if the germans woud start a war id be very surprised .i grew up over there, and the younger people are very anti war. ursula
Von Chav: No, I'm explaining why the Germans of WWII supported Hitler at an 'emotional' level. Nobody gave a shit about Hitler's brutality, and his anti-semitism. If you were starving, there was chaos in the streets, and you were told by neighbouring countries that you were responsible for all the atrocities in WWI, then I'm sure you would welcome a leader like Hitler, despite his obvious flaws. If you were starving and unemployed, and then suddenly Hitler came into office and gave you a job and food, I don't doubt that you would also support him, despite some of his brutal tactics.
These people obviously did: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! And these people gave a shit: Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! And I guess you've never heard of these guys before: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Rose
Hapsburg: I thought that it was obvious that I was referring to the German people, although it is interesting to note that France and Britain didn't give a shit about Hitler's brutality until he was on their doorstep. And yes, some Germans did resist the Nazi regime, but they were in a minority. The fact of the matter is that the National Socialists won the 6th and 7th Reichstag. Hitler was made Chancellor + President. The German people supported him until the Allies were in Berlin, and even then many Germans committed suicide for the great Fuhrer instead of being forced to live under the thumb of the Allies.
There is something in all information that can stir, raise, sit, move etc. What is the decision point?
Hapsburg: Where did I make this statement? Damn, son, you are talking shit! The majority of the Jews oppressed came from Germany's neighbouring countries, especially Poland. And don't call me 'son', you're younger than me!
Fair enough. With hindsight it's tempting to seek the moral high ground and assume that one would'nt support him, but I guess you'd have to be there to make an informed decision. Although thats not to say there was no opposition (Edelweiss Pirates, the Navajos, etc etc) I'd atleast like to believe I'd be with the opposition, despite the ruthless consequences. But again, you'd have to be there I guess. It's easier to take the more prosperous, easy road, albeit cowardly (I guess thats human nature for you) and ignore such implications while reaping the benefits.
Ouch, what a stinging insult! However, answer me this. If you offer a starving man (with a starving family) a bag of food, or freedom, which will he choose? Freedom is a luxury desired by those who have the basic necessities in life.
It is implied, since I showed you pictures of jewish victims of the Holocaust in Germany, and then you say that the jewish germans are not germans. Yeah, see, that's the point of an insult. To piss you, um...oh what's that word...off. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
