Is Wilkipedia all it is cracked up to be? It would appear that Wilkipedia is taking a bashing from critics who claim its information is flawed! What are your views? Is Wilkipedia the greatest source of knowledge on the Web? Or is it a huge pot of misinformation? Have you found errors? Or helpful information? What are you General views?
generally i find wikipedia to a great source of information, the only problem is the amount of trolling on popular items
Quite a good site. Some small errors, but generally fantastic for retrieving lots of information on a subject.
No source of information could be absolutely infallible, but Wikipedia is great because it's just so vast and easy to navigate and if you wanted to confirm something it said all you have to do is google it. If you were doing really serious research though, you would never rely on just one source or just the internet.
I use Wikipedia almost daily for general reference and research. I will use it for my academic research but I will never cite it. It's technically not a valid source of information but it can lead me in the right direction for finding valid university worthy information.
Wikipedia is good but.. it's difficult to judge the overall thing since (obviously) some articles are better than that. Two sites I would recommend (as supplement) are the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy and Project Gutenberg. Especially the former. But the latter is also surprisingly useful. You won't believe what's on there. From Tolstoy to Hume! As for me, I have 3 encyclopedias on my computer worth about $11000. I only use Wiki if I want a summary.
It's garbage; to be avoided at all costs. The overall idea is good; revisability on the fly, so to speak, is a good thing, but the way it is now, this makes it much to unreliable. What would make it work would be if one had to register, and be vetted, to edit files. As it is, at best, it's a handy resource for pop culture information and jargon.
In general it is pretty good. Most of the WW2 articles I've read are accurate and almost all of the articles on various firearms are spot on. As a free source of information, it isn't half bad.
I love Wikipedia. Anytime I need information on a subject, it is one of the first places I turn. I use it almost everyday for things I want to look up. If I want academic research, I usually go to Wikipedia for a general understanding. From there, it is much easier to find other sources for more advanced information. I think it is one of the best free sources of information.
Wikipedia - gets my 2 thumbs up... Who are these so called "Critics"... Idiots IMO. Most people know - that you can't be 100% certain on all of the information found on Wiki... but at the end of the day - It covers so much, it's unbelievable... and most of the time the information won't lead you a stray. - Shifty Russian www.SexSlash.com .... Crazy Sex News Stories!!
imo it is an excellent source for general and generally well known information, but it tends to shift more untrustworthy on more obscure subjects. Their entries on baltic gods almost made me bang my head against the keyboard, I'm considering fixing that.
