    Tarsiers

One of the smallest primates in the world, rarely getting over 6 1/4 inches long. They have the largest eye to body ratio of the primate species, and their heads easily rotate over 180 degrees at any given moment. They mate for life, and form strong family groups based on pairs of primates. And they are so horrendously ugly that they are cute.

i think its the cookie cutter shark...they attach themselves to an animal and take a chunk of flesh about the size of a seel's eye...(sort of cool and grose)

    By god.

The tarsier is the spitting image of what one pictures on the other end of Spookz' posts.

    Small, frantic, furry, annoying.

Aye ayes should be native to Australia, not Madagascar.
What with that habit of tap, tap, tapping into things for grub not knowing if they'll get any.

Humans. They are an odd creature.
They have the ability to reason, think, love, hate, destroy, and many a thing that most animals could never do. Humans are an oddity amongst our other primate peers.

    I agree with Hapsburg.

Any creature that makes a whole industry out of underarm deodorant (designed to mask the very pheremones used for reproductive success) is an odd creature indeed.

I don't know if I'd call these the 'strangest' but they are definitely pretty damn strange.

The platypus is so strange that when the first specimens were brought back to England for study (explorers always brought back dead animals) the zoologists were convinced it was a hoax, an extremely well done joke by a taxidermist.

    Penguins are right up there.

Others I would suggest: elephant, walrus, flamingo, moose, hippopotamus, toucan, Galapagos tortoise, giraffe, zebra.

For that matter, all mammals are prehistoric relics: what's the point?
Anaerobic are the least strange of all because they have lasted and endured longer than all of us! Therefore they are by far the least strange.
