Pure NH3 is very toxic. I would not ignore this.

Whoops, your right. Its years since I had anything to do with pure ammonia. I'm too used to the diluted variety.

I'm really tired right now, but here it goes...

I assure you that a ton of effort is being put into research and development for fuel cell technology. I am currently doing R&D on a new polymer for proton exchange membranes. Since I am only focusing on the PEM, the hydrogen source is not something I know a great deal about. However, I do know that the car company I work for (have to stay confidential, sorry) has set up at least one working hydrogen fuel station powered by solar panels. Now, if this can hold up to a lot of vehicles fueling up each day, I have not a clue. A combination of windmills and solar panels may supply the required electricy, but again, I haven't studied this extensively so I am just speculating. The focus is on hydrogen though, not methanol. I'm assuming they have a plan on the mass production of hydrogen or else they wouldn't be spending so much money on this project.

I do know that the membranes are quickly advancing, and there is a lot of competition in the area right now. Most prototypes use Nafion as the membrane material. Nafion is a polyperfluorosulfonic acid that is supplied by DuPont, but it has the problems of 1) being very expensive and 2) degrading at high temperatures. We are trying out new membranes that are both cheaper and more resistant to high temperatures. These new polymers are showing great potential, and the membrane stacks are key to the overall fuel cell.

Ok, I'm going to end at that. I need a beer.

Oh yes? Compressed air engine? What is its energy source?

Spud, my fourth year honours project involved making some novel niobium based materials for high temperature solid oxide fuel cell anodes. They didnt work well at all.

energy source = recycled air within the engine, huh!

Pardon? Your going to have to explain in a little more detail, I cant seem to understand what you are saying.

FUEL CELLS , what is the fuel source for that. Whatever it is , does generating / manufacturing it pollutes ?

A short Google education, "wind tide solar power hydrogen generator" should cure this Anomaly in sheer minutes, yielding a wealth of resources like this.

    The answer, my friend
    Is blowing-

well, you know the rest. Hitch your wagon to (the nearest) star.
