Regarding women, whose rights and freedoms in the kingdom are severely restricted, the king said Saudi women would one day be able to drive.

"Our people are just now beginning to open up to the world and I believe that with the passing of days in the future, everything is possible," he said.

    ***********
    "everything is possible"
Yes it is, if we can put, a man on the moon, i am sure the saudis, can put a woman, in a car.

What is wrong with this religon, when they treat there women like animals,
animals are not allowed to drive, neither is a muslim woman in alot of these, stone age countries.
Why are there women treat like lepers.
They make then cover up, from eyes to toes, they have there own lifts, and supermarkets.
Just when does a woman, have rights under islam, under rape laws, the mans word is always believed.
Why is man, god under islam, and the woman, is the doormat.

The arrogance of this fat king, one day, women will be able to drive,
and one day this fat *astard, will have his day of reckoning, in hell.

Islamic values are Islamic values, just because we don't agree with them does not mean that we in the west are right. We should respect other religions and cultures. it is not our place to tell other cultures how they should be doing things, (just as it is wrong for islamic extremists to think that it is ok to attack anyone who is an "infidel".)

It wasn't that long ago that American women were not allowed to vote. Are you going to blame that on Christianity?

And the Afgani women were disenfranchised when America empowered the Taliban. Again, is that Christianity's fault?

Billions of people throughout the world have their basic human rights denied by fascist governments every day. It's not a matter of religion, it's a matter of power.

This small shift in policy in Saudi Arabia should be welcomed as a step in the right direction. And you should be encouraging them, rather than working against them.

For this piece of islamic values I would have to say we in the west are right to try to influence them to turn away from this repression of a group of people. Wasnt it just last year a school for girls burned down and most of the girls in it were killed because the police representing the "islamic values" refused to allow the girls out of the burning building because they were not dressed properly? I cannot respect that religion or culture as long as it hasnt the ability to respect the lives of their own women.

If you would not tolerate your own mother, sister, wife, daughter being treated that way you betray your own humanity when you allow it to occur without discourse, to anothers mother, sister, wife, daughter, under the pale excuse of respect for other religions/cultures. Sometimes human behavior using the guise of "religion/culture" is simply wrong.

The entire blame does not fall on Christianity. But there are many examples in Christianity that continue to display this discrimination even today. The Baptists, the Mormons, the Catholics, all have "religious doctrine" which prohibit women from some places in the hierarchy of their representation of good on earth.

The repression of the Afgani women was inflicted by Islam, not Christianity in this case.

All of the above mentioned flaws in human behavior are about power. Whether its governmental, factional, religious or any other types of "absolute power". There was no small shift in Saudi policy. This is one man mouthing words that the west wants to hear regarding women and their right to drive.

It is not religion that protects me from the religious. It is the law that protects me from the religious (in the USA). I would like to see all countries laws protect the people within its borders equally, regardless of their race, creed, religion, gender, etc.

And for this to happen, there is going to have to be alot of pressure put on those who do hold absolute power, to give up these things they believe belong to them alone. Patting them on their backs for mouthing words during a TV interview just isnt enough. I want to see some real change before I pat them on their backs for a job well done.

Neildo mothers, mothers should NOT be alowed to pick up kids from schools or go shopping

Have you SEEN how mothers drive in there bloody torak tractors?

but vince your letting your preduce show again, what is the difference between making women cover themselves and stoping me from walking down the street stark naked? or my GF walking down the street even just topless? some tribes in africa (or aborigionals in australia) would say that those laws are wrong yet you would probably say all sorts of horiable things about THEM if they walked down your street naked. In the end it comes down to your own preduce against muslims and if you continue to do it i will asked for you to be banned again

Not sure where thre relgiion come in the picture or in vinnie's head, but i have yet to find anything in islamic scriptures where it says that women can't drive. They are local laws, rest of the islamic countries have no ban on women drivers. But again for a religiou bigot and racist like vinnie it is all islam.

    <hint>Hadith & Sunni</hint>

I'm pretty sure those are Islamic scriptures, did you read these? If you didn't, I recommend that you do, to achieve a better understanding of Islam. Stop spreading your ignorant nonsense about Islam atleast until you read these.

Wow, Saudis are so cute, I guess until that "one day", and from that day on, women can continue to be meat slaves for the Wahabbi masters. -- Indifinitely
