I think for the sake of gaining new members, the Star Trek vs. Star Wars thread and Rap or Crap? threads have been the most important. Anyone here remember what thread/section drew them to Sciforums? For me, I think it was something in the religion section.
My first post was in the thread that is still going: On the CD Player (Turntable) Today I first took interest in the philosophy and religion section in general.
For me it was the backslash777- man, machine, alien thread back in 2001. I read it for three months, then decided to join Sciforums. My first post is on this page.
I was drawn by the SCI in sciforums. p.s. you guys can just click on yourself and go to your profile, then hit "view all posts, then go to the last page. that will be your first post.
There used to be quite a few linguists here, people who really knew a lot about the various types of language structure, phonetics, taxonomy, etc. A google search on some fine point of linguistics is what brought me here the first time and that's what initially got me interested. Now I seem to be the dean of that department and I'm only an amateur.
The thread on Teh Gimmickry is how I found sciforums, becuase this other forum that I frequent was working on it and got stuck, so I thought I'd look to see if I could find more help. Anyway, I found this place, looked around, fell in love and joined, though I mostly lurk and learn on the boards where I don't know much.
i was looking up UFO's on my home page and it lead herePlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image! But the ethics debates are what i was first interested in. My first post would have been a "hi im new" threadPlease Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
i came into this forum a LONG time ago as "reformedtopunk". I can't remember what threads brought me in, but i know it was the great Pollux V that got me into sci-forums.
I was googling for resources on Jewish religion. Ended up in some weird-ass thread down in the archive. Yeshua ben Joseph. I'm so ashamed that I was drawn here with a religious thread. The shame of it all.... My only defense is that religion is composed of deep-seated needs in our psyche and by understanding the forces at work in the world's religions, we can more fully understand the forces at work in our own minds. Still. Ick.
Hey Teh Gimmickry! Thats ME!~ Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! LOL, I plagued this forum with useless, frustrating riddles... Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! BTW: Can someone tell me what the heck are referrals?
I think I may have been, too. If I recall, I was doing research for a school project and stumbled across these forums. Spent hours reading before I joined.
I found this place while looking for information about salvia. I found some thread here with a little info, then I noticed the eastern philosophy and religion forums. That was a little over a year ago, i think. ive probably read every good thread in the philosophy section since then.
"I'm so ashamed that I was drawn here with a religious thread." me too. what was i thinking??? edit: hooray, my thousandth post
