decoy ripped off. so we got:
Riddle #1: ... There are three words in the(1) English(2) language(3). What is the third word?...

    'language'

Riddle #2: It is stronger than God, and more evil than the devil. The poor have lots of it, but the rich dont have it. If you fill a box with it, it is all the more lighter.

Same with Banshee: 'nothing' (i've seen this on the net long time ago

    )

The person who made it, doesnt want it for himself. The person who buys it wont use it for himself. The person who uses it, wont know that he uses it. What is it?

yep, this is hard... 'poison'? :bugeye:

We had this one in the last couple of pages or so from whatsherface. I think the answer is counterfeit currency.

ooooh. Banshee, yours is still too hard.

I'm starting to think (after 20 odd pages) that I'm not too good at these!

    Here's one:

Give a sentence, in english, that makes sense, which contains a string of the same word, consecutively, five times.

    Banshee - not fair
If someone already guessed the right answer no one else will use it again. Why didn't you 'fess up to the one who got it right?

    esp
that last one of yours has to be the hardest yet. did you make it up or find it somewhere?

"Counterfeit currency" is the correct answer to my second, but MangoMan's is a slightly different question, and the answer to it is a <b>"coffin"</b>.

I'll put you out of your misery, the answer to my first is CLIO.

    A hundred = C
    and one = I
By fifty divide = L (between them)
And if a cipher (zero) is rightly applied = O (to the right)
The answer is one from nine = CLIO, one of the nine Muses, the daughters of Zeus.

    *lol*

I knew what the word had to be but not how to use it quite <b>that</b> many times in a row so i looked it up.

Re grammar: "He said that that 'that' that that man used was wrong. "

In fact it can be done 6 times:

"Did the editor know that that that that that that followed was redundant?"

I wouldn't have solved that riddle even if I had five brains!:bugeye:

I even had to look up cipher in the thesaurus

cipher - code, secret message, symbol. That didn't help one bit.

    This thread is torture.

Have you worked out the answer to esp's last one yet?

    Cheers.

    Teri, may i recommmend WordWeb?

The free version doesn't do lots of cool stuff that would be the best crossword cheat ever, but is nevertheless the handiest addition to my desktop.

All i had to do waslook up cipher, then Clio in it and it was solved.

Thanks, I'll add it to my favorites.

BTW why are you up at this ridiculous hour - or are you over in Perth and it's just late?

Teri. it's not online, it's a standalone you can download to keep. It makes it very easy to find the word you want.

I'm near Melbourne, and it is late/early but i slept most of the day so i can't sleep now.

    My excuse?

Leaving this forum is like trying to put down a good book. "I'll just read one more chapter" kind of thing.

Besides, it's Saturday - well, Sunday now - and I can sleep as long as I want to when I finally do go to bed.

I've been jumping all over the threads tonight and keep finding things that I'm afraid I won't find again next time. (don't tell me to write it down, that would be far too logical).

I think I really am addicted to this forum.

    Cheers.

    Teri...

    *Banshee - not fair
If someone already guessed the right answer no one else will use it again. Why didn't you 'fess up to the one who got it right?*

Where did you get the idea someone already came up with the answer? Nobody did guess the right answer til now. There is someone with me, in my house who knows the answer, not in the Riddle thread! So here's to you, again, the same riddle. If you think the answer is already given, then tell me, what was it?

A strange thing, the more you take, the more you leave behind? what can this be?

Esp, Teri knows the answer, so lets wait for her to come up with it!

*Give a sentence, in english, that makes sense, which contains a string of the same word, consecutively, five times.*

    Still thinking on that one...
