I'm a huge 40k fan. Both of the game and the fiction. Been playing for nearly 15 years now. I collect Imperial Guard and I have my own custom human race which involve converted minuatures of various species melded into one cohesive structure.

I play 40k, Eldar and Dark Eldar (who need a new codex, moreso than the 'nids did), I'm horrible at painting though (and are sort of an all-round noob)

Oh god yes, the Dark Eldar need so much done for them. I can see why they're updating the Space Marines (again), it's the newbie choice and it's also the most popular army. But the Dark Eldar have so much potential. They're evil, absolute evil. And unlike Chaos, they're evil out of their own free will which makes them a horrifying opponent to face...if they had some decent things. I've seen people use Dark Elves from the fantasy game to create some interesting Dark Eldar conversions and some scratch built weapons i.e. the SplinterCaster (think bolt caster but more scifi).

I am going to try and borrow my folks digital camera (as my one is rubbish at close ups) and take some pictures of my unique race. I'm yet to actually name them but they comprise of human, eldar and tau soldiers who dwell in one of the few remaining independant star systems not yet plundered by the imperium of man or swept in the tide of the Greater Good. Makes for some unique weapons and ideas.

A Necron army, damn man. Post some pictures of them so we can see. I'm going to be taking pictures of a few of my squads. I also spend alot of money on it and when you're heavily into converting miniatures, it's roughly £60 a squad. But they look the business so I'm not complaining.

Okay, let us debate. I want some evidence to back up your claim. Photographic preferable. I want to hear some reasoning behind your claim so that I don't just take it as a flat out attempt at flaming then have to get off my overworked ass and use brain power (see that, brain power...you might like to try using that at some point) to fight back.

I have done some research and there is no, at present, evidence that directly links playing Warhammer with homosexuality. I may, of course, be looking at the wrong charts here.

    Discuss.

Isnt warhammer fiction made for kids?

I think the only reason men read it is because, they sit with no success in life, and need to get a surge of testosterone, by reading badly written, slaughter fests, filled with mindless retoric? Either that or you just cant read, decent books. Im a fan of science fiction myself, and reading shit like that is stooping to the lowest level, for an adult that is.

The game I understand, is fun for CHILDREN, to get a sence of adventure, strategy, and what-not. But for a guy to play for 15 years... dont you have better shit to do?

Does controling plastic figurines of fictional warriors make your penis feel bigger? if so, warhammer directly corilates with homosexuality.

I would recomend a change of pasttime, after all you might reach 40 some day, and you will have nothing substantial to show for it.

Warhammer is inspirational, involved and creative science fiction. A universe where mankind isn't the heroic race we like to think we'll become. It's pretty much the dark ages but with big guns. Religion is might and to resist that might is heresy. The books written for the Black Library merely expand the universe. Some of them are quite fast paced and humourous but I know that I am wasting my breath because you've already made up your mind about it.
Personal opinion quite blatantly doesn't mean fact in your case, eh

Warhammer 40,000 is a fictional universe devised for Science Fiction fans, both young and old alike. Much like the run of the mill Star Wars, Star Trek, Dunes, etc, etc.

That might be true for some people. I read the books as an escape after long hours at work. Some also act as inspiration that I can put into effect quite creatively. With todays society going down the tubes due to mass media, people should be encouraged to explore other persuits such as this.

Not so, as I said before the books expand the universe. They provide a story. I admit they're not as "challenging" as some of the L. Ron Hubbard books I have on my shelf but it's still a good, quick read.

It is quite fun for alot of people. It's a bit like chess but on a broader scale. You both get a set amount of allocated units and use superior tactics to win. Again, something we should be encouraging people to do more often. From experience, not many people are willing to use their brain in life. The easy way out is always the route taken. No-one wants to challenge their mind anymore. This makes it fun...if you're willing to open up, which it appears you are not ready to do. For that, I cannot blame you. But what I can blame you for, however, is the immature slander written in your posts above.

Well it's not so much figurines, they're miniatures that you create from the ground up. You put your creativity into them by building them in a unique way then paint them in a way you so desire. In a way, it is no different from painting a picture. I suppose handling a paintbrush is supposed to make peoples penis' feel bigger to?

I started at an early age thus it has been a part of my life. I paint my models purely as a hobby, usually after a day at work which is usually quite demanding, It's very relaxing and beats sitting in front of the television knowing your brain is melting away. Also, it does calm down the adrenalin excess I do get after a day of PT.

I respectively note your recommendation and say "Errr no". It's a hobby pure and simple. Some people like gardening, some people like mountain climbing. I just happen to like this. Nothing wrong with that. Not some kind of law against enjoying something is there? Boy, I'm very sorry I have offended you in any way but I'm just going to say that that's your fucking problem, not mine.

People like you make me question my career choice. Why the hell am I working to protect people like you? And if you're so fucking smart and I'm not, why can't you put together an arguement that doesn't involve the basic forms of attack used by a junior school bully? Or are you just lowering the tone for poor ol' me? Shucks, you shouldn't have.

I'm not the one here who has to grow up. Get a pair then come back to see me.

Ahh all hail MattBellamy and Odinizm, if there were people like you leading the world then we would be in such a great place.

So right let me get this straight, matt you think doing something makes you a homosexual? Let me just ask you, you're named after the lead singer of Muse, is that because you want to have his babies? Its like me saying you're a homosexual cause you like Muse, don't be an idiot.

And Odin. I would like a child to be able to understand all the rules of it and play it propperly, I really would cause I know they wont get the grips of it because funnily enough its more based on an older audience. But you knew that of course right?

Yeah I play 40k, been playing since I was 7, I'm almost 20 now, do you think I care what you think? No. Do I think that because you're a "SO cool, so smart and So up your own ass" that I am actually going to listen to someone who hides behind his computer slagging people off because in reality he has no real purpose in life?

Rght lets see, Most people who play 40k have no life, well let me think, I'm a martial artist who is proficient in more weapons than I can name as well as more martial art forms that I care to know, I work out and I'm not skinny or scrawny, I'm at uni becoming a teacher, a song writer with a band who have got an album coming out, I've helped people, I play sports, I listen to music, go out drinking and I have fun with my life. Yeah I have no life

What would you know about that?! What do you read? Thomas the tank engine, no wait you're gonna say the hobbit aren't you? Or is it the Mr Men?

Does trying to make yourself sound really cool by saying that make your penis feel bigger? Have you found yours yet cause it doesn't sound like you have. Hang in there bud, it will happen. Anyway what's your fascination with Thor's wang anyway?!

To be honest "mate" we've probably got a lot more to show than you have. And we've had to deal with people like you all our lives, what makes you think you've even got the right to comment on our lives when you can't figure out your own.

Odin was a norse god who had honour and pride, he was the king and father of the gods, you don't even diserve to have that in your name at the moment.

Anyway I collect space marines, used to play as the Blood Angels but I started making my own called the Dragon Knights, its pretty fun creating new characters and stuff.

It sounds like you recited that many times before. I must be just one of those people , as I hate star treck, starwars , and the dune movies.

Why not read decent Fiction though? the warhammer stuff is truly badly written. Slaughterhouse 5 by Kurt vonnegut is a great book, Cryptonomicon by Neil Stephenson is a great book. Both would be a nice read, especially with your future profession. Also, Any book by isaac asimov, or the chronicles of amber, if your more of a si fi person rather than plain fiction.
I realise its fun, but its too expensive and time consuming, and chess I would say has more to do with math than tactics.

As far as using ones brain is concerned, I agree with you, but I don’t think warhammer is the activity to do it.
They cost too much for a piece of moulded solder, That’s my main reason for hating the industry, its all very corporal. Painting them is entertaining, I would agree, but not nearly as skilful or creative as actually painting something. And a lot of people do make their penis feel bigger when they pain a painting, it gives them a sense of being an important skilful person. I know several people who paint, and consequently act like that.
It beats the tv, but it still gets your brain off subject. I can think of better things to do.

Spending 200 dollars a day on moulded metal, is not a hobby, it’s an obsession, an unhealthy one at that. Im not saying you spend that much, but some people who posted here said they did.

I played Warhammer when I was at university (long nights!) but not the one with figurines nor the videogame... It was funny and we had lots of good quests! Now we work, we have girlfriends and I spend more time on my Honda 600 CBF so I don't play anymore but maybe one day... soon or later.

Yes people would be more productive.
Go down to the local warhammer shop where I live, its filled with seven year olds. Playing at their big table, that and alot of people over 30, who obviously rotted away due to warhammer and became nothing, They live with their parents and work in call centres. But of course, you knew that right?

Do you think I want you to care about my thoughts? I expressed my honest opinion. Oh I have no real purpose in life? your the one who spends his money and time playing warhammer. In the end any acheivment you make in warhammer vanish with you, and not even the slightest smudge remains.

I never said people who play warhammer have no life, I said I hate warhammer, and think its a stupid passtime.

Book im reading just now is: bertrand russell's "history of western philosophy"

Usually people who like controling things, do it because it makes them feel more important than the people around them, I used the penis metaphor for egotism. and thors wang interests me because im gay, does that answer your question?

    I seriously doubt it.
My "odin" has nothing to do with norse gods, its russian for "one" if you think of communism as "communal" odinizm is the opposite.
