VCD? CD's with video files in them? Are they ".avi", ".mkv", ".ogg", etc files that somehow mysteriously refuse to play?

I can help you, then. I can give you suggestions.

But not before you apologize for generalizing technologically unchallenged people with a term as ungainly and insulting as "Net nerds". No help from me before that apology to all of us.

Well for myself, I don't mind being called a nerd. Whenever someone calls ma a nerd, they're just confirming my belief that I'm better than them.

You can play VCDs with Windows Media Player, insert the VCD in your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM and browse to the MPEGAV folder and double click on the .dat file and associate it with Media Player and open them with that.

To play a VCD with menus and still pictures use WinDVD or PowerDVD, insert the VCD and just hit Play. Use a low resolution, like 640x480, on the monitor when watching a VCD to get best quality.

    - totally ripped from here.

Yeah, thanks people, but I've actually sorted it out now (purely by luck!!!)

Naomi-- read the VERY FIRST LINE of my initial post: There's your appology!!
I have no problem with nerd at all-- I actually agree with Jinoda that they ARE smarter than me. Greater intelligence makes me feel threatened so I respond with a first-strike 'insult'!

    No offense intended!!

    Cheers again tho!!!!!

That one's not addressed properly. It doesn't say that it is an apology for calling people "nerds".

Well, just to be nice, I'll just spit out something.

Alright, just to be nice to you, Naomi, here goes:

I AM REALLY REALLY SORRY FOR CALLING YOU DORKS NERDS.

(Just kidding! Sorry for any offence to you and anyone else who is that easily offended.)

That's exactly why everyone should download it now.

Instead of googling this I would have mentioned VLC, I just didn't realize it had the capability to play VCDs (I don't personally play VCDs at all, so I had no idea).

No. That's exactly why everyone in EU countries should campaign to save it by convincing their representatives to vote against all this.

This software patent legislation nonsense could permanently cripple existing open source. This is the beginning of the end.

But I guess it's just easier to download and "let someone else do it", right? And then comes the complaining when open source slowly gets legislated out of existence. The complaining is always loudest from the people who didn't do anything.

Please. If you live in a EU country, try and contact your EU representative to let him/her know why software patents should be voted against.

Wow. This is the first time I've ever regretted not being European.

I have to admit I don't quite understand The Charmer's problem here but, the thread has gotten interesting what with the legal work and all. What is the attraction of this app? I've been using WMP Classic for the past 4 years without any problems; it will play any type of file.
    Just wondering.
