If I could vote more then once I would pick the 60's, 70's and the 80's. Best artist in music ever rocked those times.

If I could vote for more than one I'd just have gone with everything from the 80's on back.

That's a hard choice for many for I enjoyed the 30's and 40's Big Band Era a great deal. I also liked the Blues during the 40's and 50's and jazz during the same period.

Most people tend to vote for the decade they grew up (teenage). It is these years that music is the most influential. Exception: While "growing up" in the 80's I listened to mostly 70s rock. --- (alright, I also listened to some Duran Duran)

You know that something is very wrong with this society when someone praises 70s boogie over Vivaldi.

1600s; and the best music of the period would be Russian Church hymns.

Repetitive and quite boring. I have some mp3s

I have many mp3s and am quite content with what I have. Vivaldi is one of the greatest bores among classical composers.

Well, I'm not much into church music, especially in languages I understand.

You understand old Russian, too? Isn't it a lovely language? I find those hymns quite poetic; a sharp contrast to the popular music of our day.

Not particulary old russian, but most words can be understood (enough to annoy me), probably the language hasn't changed much in that field.

p.s. Then don't listen to the popular music of today!

There is quite a lot good nowaday music around too, just have to dig for it more, because there is so much junk around.

Of course. My music collection is fairly large, and church hymns are only a tiny part of it.

But really, must it be Vivaldi? Do you not adore Strauss's Zarathustra more? Each time I hear the intro, I imagine myself, the great ruler, enter a long hall lined with my subjects, as my long red mantle streams behind me.... And, isn't Devil Doll much better than petty Vivaldi?

Vivaldi is the most ellegant one. It has more ellegance and delicate yet determined style than any other I have heard.
