Amnesty International Calls for Prosecutions of U.S. Officials I second that motion ! All in favour say Aye ! The Bush junta and its allies in the corporate media have been engaging in a series of attacks against Amnesty International . Amnesty International's well-documented findings, Dick Cheney dismissed it saying " I frankly just don't take them seriously " Rumsfeld as " reprehensible " and Genralissimo Bush as an "an absurd report" ! But wait here is the Irony ! At the time of the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003, top Bush administration officials were regularly citing Amnesty International's human rights reports as evidence of the viciousness of Saddam Hussein's regime.
Amnesty International? ...LOL! I frankly just don't take them seriously! ...LOL! It's similar to the ACLU ...whenever I'm not sure about some issue, I wait to see wha the ACLU says, then take the opposite stance! ..LOL! Baron Max
Yup . . . i'm an anmesty member . . . and a human rights watch member . . . glad to know that Rumsfeld cares about human rights.
Well, he seems to care about the rights of the worshippers in the mosques who are blown to bits by the vicious insurgents! Or should he only care about the rights of the vicious insurgents to DO such blowing to bits? Who is this "human" whose "rights" we're supposed to care about? Which ones? Which group of humans? And when? Baron Max
This is possibly one of the dumbest quotes ever. what if the ACLU takes both sides of an argument. Do you even know what that organization stands? Saying you choose the opposite of the ACLU is like saying you choose Fascism. The American Civil Liberties Union is in the business of representing the legal rights of citizens in our government. If you represent the opposite opinion then you piss on the Constitution. I personally don't like the ACLU when they defend the guilty, but when the rights of the guilty are breached then they deserve the same legal rights that you or I enjoy. I am a member of Amnesty International as well and they are one of the most beneficial and useful human rights organizations in the world. They also takes occasional positions that I disagree with, but on the whole their philosophy of crying out against death and torture in all forms, whether criminal or state assisted, is a shining model as to how all organizations should act. -ZERO MASS
considering AI's stance on the Arab-Israeli conflict and on American "torture", everything else they say just loses credibility, even if it's valid. and you know what, the loud mouth activist segment of AI has ruined the reputation of the entire organization with its "gulag" and "torture" statements, etc. hyperbole is not cool if you want to be taken seriously. all retards should immediately be fired and only cool headed rational thinkers should be employed in AI to restore its credibility with EVERYONE, not just part of the population that hates America a-la-Chomsky
So kids on a college campus handing out candy canes with little religious holiday messages attached to 'em should be censored, and Rush Limbaugh's medical records should be released to the public?
Why do you put torture in quotes? Would stripping you naked, putting a hood over your head, peeing on you, sicking dogs on you, and hooking electrodes to your genitals not qualify as torture in your opinion?
obviously the definition of "torture" is subjective. someone can get really upset or hurt if you call them names, and feel like it's torture. but it's all relative. in relation to the conventional meaning of torture, all these activities are one big joke - even if they happened exactly as they are claimed to have happened. check this article out: http://www.lileks.com/screedblog/05/05/051305.html hopefully it'll put things in perspective
Oh, right, what good are facts when you can just make them all go away with a wave of your hand! Still holding out for WMD in iraq, too? Do you believe everything Fox News tell you? This was torture there's no doubt about that except in the minds of blinded fanatics.
People in Afghanistan detention camps have been beaten to death, their legs a bloody pulp, and hung from the ceiling with chains by the arms, kept without food and water, and shot in shipping containers. Put that in perspective. http://www.crimesofwar.org/special/afghan/news-tortureafghan.html
I bet Otheadp gets off on having menstural blood smeared on his face, dogs sicked on him, electric shocks administered to his genitals and being corn-holed by glowsticks.
This whole "Its not torture!" thing is so insipid. What won't these people deny? How big is the holocaust denier movement? I bet they could really use this to recruit more folks, couldn't they? They could make an ad campaign that goes something like "The same people who think that electric shocks to the genitals and rape is torture are the ones who dreamed up this holocaust thing!" and the torture-deniers would just flock to it. They would dream up all sorts of outrage. I bet they would compare the holocaust to a fraternity initiation.
What are you takling about, Moose? Bush never said that Iraq had WMD! *la la la la la* it was all a war for freedom of the Iraqi people *la la la la I can't hear you!*
