    Viruses are that durable,why,you ask?
Simply because there are animal species-microbes that are able to become dead for 2300 years(tardigrades) without food and water,I found that on the net, they were found near piramides.
If tardigrades can kill themselves and than resurrect them,as well as bacteries, viruses are the toughest species on Earth, you simply never know when will they become alive.

Humans are the most fragile species in the world, you can kill them in so many different ways, the more complex structure an species have, the more vulnerable and fragile is.Humans suck!

I know a lot about scoprions and cockroaches, both species are extremely tough, but I don't know that for spiders and mites(I should try to find something about their toughness on the net).Take crocodiles, for example. In that documentary they're supposed in the top ten toughest animals-based on what, just because you live in water, doesn't make you tough, since crocodiles are complex organisms like humans(humans are the most complex macroorganisms).
I bet crocodiles were at 10th place of the top ten toughest animals in that documentary "The most extreme animals:Survivor".

maybe, but viruses arent animals..! Thats the thread title. They not plants or bacteria neither.

We arent very strong or fast for our size and we cant take much cold or heat, but we are good all rounders. we can run a long way if we're fit, we can swim beter than most land animals - other apes cant swim. We cant eat a very big range of foods, not just grass or fish or whatever. We work togehter well and swap ideas beter than any other animal. most of all, we learn and build!

More complex doesnt have to mean weaker. I mean, a shark is much more developd than a sea slug, and much harder to kill!

Crocs have survived almost without changin since we were nothing more than tree shrews. They carried on when the big dinosaurs all died. Apart from killing people who swim with them they must be pretty tough + stubborn as a species..

    Hi,Jenny!
Yes,we're weaker, our brain is getting smarter, but our bodies are getting more and more fragile,in the end it seems to me we would end up like Stephen Hawking.
More complex does mean weaker-here is why:
Crocodiles survived without changing because they live in water, every species that lives in water could have survived that asteroid collision. That doesn't make them tougher than they are, because they aren't,without water they wouldn't be able to survive all these changes in nature.
When I said tough I meant we can't survive being heated to +150 °C,no complex animal, only the least complex, can beacue it's more adaptable, people may swim, but that doesn't make them tougher than.
Our bodies, are weak, but our minds are powerful.

what about the icythosaurs and plesiosaurs and little brontos etc. which spent most of the time in swamps? did they die off before the asteroid hit us?

Termites are tough critters as well as ants.

The toughest critter I came across was a chihuhua that bit into my testicles and didn't let go until one of them was in its stomach.

Do you have any evidence that supports this postulation or is it yust your opinion?

First, this was some kind of joke, but I don't think our bodies will end up like Stephen Hawking's body.I think our bodies will remain the same, and equally fragile and even more fragile if they evolve into an more complex structure, but our brain will become more powerful-this is also theory that evolutionists said about how will humans evolve, yes we will become smarter, also more evolution goes the more complex species will become and their bodies will become weaker-evolutionists said this.they concluded this as a result of view of multi-billion years' long evolution, from the simplest forms to the most complex.Today most complex species are humans.

Nah, peoples bodies will get stronger + healthier in future from delibrate genetic changes - not natural evolution. We'll all be athletes, we'll be freefrom diseses or deformitys, we will live 3x as long.

That will never happen, because I asked an scientist who is an expert in genetics, and he said viruses, bacteries will always adapt to whatever we made with genetics, because he gave me some examples on just how "fragile" genetics is.you make something to be immune to let's suppose bacteries' infections, but than bacteries adapt and everything goes from the beginning, humans will never achieve long age, except for the richest people, but even them even if they are healthy thru the entire life will live 120 at most.

Well you can cut off a cockroaches head off and it'll live for days... until it starves of course.
