I have not seen it. I now do not want to see it. Some guy ruined it for me by telling me how it ends. I really wanted to see it but I feel that I now cannot cos I'll be sitting there all the time thinking about the ending. And we all know the ending but I ain't saying it as I cannot be bothered to put a spoiler alert here.

I actually enjoyed the movie. I went opening night at midnight and I expected to see a movie that was supposedly much scarrier then his previous efforts. I had went with a large group of friends, and they were all expecting the same. Let's just say that most of them were highly disappointed by the ending, and did not enjoy it one bit. However, me and two of my other friends enjoyed it greatly. Although it was not in the same mold of what a "scary movie" is supposed to be, it still presented an idea that in a sense is somewhat frightening. In the end I believe you need to view the movie with an open mind. Many people don't and are disappointed when the movie turns out to be something completely different from what they want to see.

I think they were very misleading in the previews for the movie, like Tralfaz said it wasn't what I was expecting to see so I was disappointed by the end.

Well it has to be misleading otherwise if you knew the truth (as I did) you would not see it. You go see it to find out what it's all about, not because you know how it's going to end. I hate movies where you know what's going to happen.

It was pretty good. If you go in expecting to see something like "Signs" or "The Sixth Sense" you'll be disappionted. All in all i'd give it 7/10

I thought it was ok, but I still say that the director hasn't done anything yet that can live up to his first movie, The Sixth Sense. I am getting tired of watching mediocre movies because I expect them to be really good.

I wish he'd stop trying to make movies that try to surprise you at the end . If people are expecting a surprise then it's not much of a surprise. How can anything be unexpected when everyones expecting it?

I'm sure one day the twist in his story will be the lack of one.

Depends on how you view movies and how far your interest in science goes.

A sociologist would have been intrigued by the movie...the lady behind me certainly wasn't.

I liked it. I felt sorry for those losers but I liked it.

I liked "The Village." Well, I liked it more than "Signs" anyway. "Signs" just irritated me. The Village just went back to being a cool story like "Sixth Sense" and "Unbreakable."

    *SPOILER*

I saw the end coming halfway through the movie. It reminded me a lot of the book Running Out of Time by Margaret Peterson Haddix. So... I was thinking about and I didn't find it as surprising. There were some little twists that I was surprised to see. But the "big twist" wasn't so big. All in all, I found it enjoyable.

...And I wasn't left sitting there trying to figure out why the hell a buch of aliens whose weakness was water would try to attack a planet that was 75% water...

I thought it was awesome... a lot better than the previews made it look, at any rate. I wish Lucius had stayed in it more, though.

i agree with Evelyonian's rating of 7/10. It was very good realy, and I sure didnt get bored like some critics say.

The elders had done something very questionable to their kids, keeping them stuck in that valley forever by false scary storys just because they themselvs didnt like a normal life.. but they thought it was RIGHT.

the "creatures" were actualy pretty scary, even after you knew they werent real.

Who i felt sorry for was the wildlife park rangers whose only task was to patrol the boundary of an area they couldnt ever enter.. and wouldnt someone have looked into it, if there was a government deal to keep planes from flying over the woods? All the UFO nuts + conspiracy theorists would think it a sinsiter secret base and try to break in..

    Spoilers below.

The elders were all messed up. They met in a counseling group, for christ's sake. All of them were exposed to traumatic experiences in which people were evil- which they are (see "people suck" in free thoughts).

Of course they thought it was right. They saw themselves as protecting their families from the evils of the outside world.

Sorry I didnt use a spoiler tag but I figured only people whod alredy seen the film would post on this thread..

  21. Compared to his other films, it was pretty bad.
    Not terrible, but a little...boring.
Everyone says how amazing The Sixth Sense was when i thought that wasn't his greatest.
    Unbreakable - Best Film
    Signs- Next Best
    Sixth Sense
    The Village

I was told the plot but still enjoyed it, i'd built an image of what it would be like and the film wasn't anything like it.

All in all 6 maybe 7/10

my favorite was also unbreakable, by leaps and bounds.

not so much a fan of the village. seemed like he dragged a 30-minute plot into however long i was stuck in the theater, and i can't say i saw it coming, but i wasn't really suprised by the end.

i think shayamalan (sp?) needs to mix up his style a little. he makes interesting movies, but they seem to have too much in common. not story wise, i guess it is the pacing and cinematography, but he seems to try and brand them to much.
