does anyone know why Creatine is "unsuitable for persons under 16"?? does it effect growth?, mess with your head? or is it just because they think under 16's will not use it responsibly?

The body is still going through lots of growth during that period and it'll effect growth bigger than it already does. Doing anything to the body while it's still growing isn't good.

Yes, it is also not recommended for children under 16 to lift weights on a regular basis as well.

but do you know the actual effects of Creatine itself and why it is not reccomended.

and by the way i dont lift too much weight. i use weights sometimes for circuit training and for power training (which is not the same as stregth training as i use very light weights but with high repitions and very fast)

    That's an absurd wives tale.

lol. well its a touchy subject and still arguable but if done properly weight training is good for teenagers (and pre teenagers although benifits are very slower because of lack of right hormones).

but if you do weightlifting wrong or lift too much while your body is still growing you can very seriously and permanantly destroy your body and the worst thing is that the effects can be so slow you wont even notice until your older and its too late by then.

but anyway your right saying its an old wives tale that lifting weights is bad for under 16's its just that if its done badly at that age it can cause some very serious future problems.

Where did you hear that creatine is harmful for people under 16 ? Weight-training for teens under 16 is not harmful at all as long as you keep proper form during lifts. You dont want to injure that lower back or the shoulder else it might impair you for life. Also you've gotta take care of your wrists. Creatine helps the muscle retain more water and hence give you that buffed up look. Since, you seem to be power training, why would you want to supplement creatine ? I think you should just stick to whey protein. You would need more muscle fibre rather than just better water retention.
