This is some of the coolest art I have ever seen. I love PBS for showing me stuff like this, and I can't help but to show others. http://www.arthurganson.com/pages/Sculptures.html I figured people on this site could appreciate it. I don't really have anything do discuss, so just go to the link. p.s. this kind of stuff would be good to get school kinds interested in engineering.
I'm loving that fragile wire machine, I almost want to try and make it! I'm amazed that certain aircraft are not featured on that page, some of them are just awesome, some for strange design, others for the sleek and sexy supersonic look
I know, after I first saw it I was like "I must make that stuff", some of them would be easy, like the 2 chain ones.
My favourites would have to be '23 Scraps of Paper' and 'Machine with Fabric', but they're all amazing. The knife throwing machine in particular. While we're on the subject of sculpture, this is less for engineers than for geometers, but still: http://www.georgehart.com/sculpture/sculpture.html
Thanks for the link, I found viewing the art very interesting. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I thought people here would enjoy it. If anyone knows of any other artistically engineered things, like geodesic, feel free to post them
Interesting....I had some trouble getting to it (unavaible) but once I did, I really liked it. (to a certain extent...) A very, different, form of art.
Yeah, the site was down for like a day. I liked it mostly because it was not the usual "this captures the frailty of the human condition" art, it is more like "look at how interesting the motion of mechanical things can be." It does not feel contrived or like he did it for any other reason than to satisfy the creative instincts that all mankind possess.
