    "Wrong", you say?

Oh, I'm sorry for knowing my Italian then, and assuming you're a man -- if you actually READ Italian, as you say, you'd still know that calling yourself "spesso sbagliato" -- with the o -- means you are of masculine gender... ahem... And I'm still offended by the fact that you don't want to "catch anything" by taking a token of affection from me.

And I still say if you find it offensive to post in other languages, I fail to see what's up with the "spesso sbagliato" thing. Sir.

how about we return to the topic?...

so small talk is out the window now, guess i have to dust of my walking shoes. But the problem is not the social chat, its the boring 1 lines(or larger for that matter) that has no info or only agree to something. And those that think they are better and/or more correct then others.

This is thread is also just chatter based on some wierd wish to ban someone, now peppered with a little bit of "personal" attacks between mods.

    reflections, nice word

    Because we can.
    This. The nature of freedom.
    The nature of life.
Through humiliation we force conformation to the social pact.
Just as the child is traumatized by his icky-bad poo poo we must potty-train the social gobblers of their inanity. The problem is, of course, that in doing it this way we risk creating an excessive stigma on something which should rather merely be viewed with caution than pure abstinence, but so be it. You got any better ideas?

Aside: I love the moderator quarrel going on. Keep it up. It's lovely. The teats of our goddess of wisdom are surely beginning to show their sag lines.

Invert : what is this humiliatinon idea your so facinated by, i find it quite strange.

Maybe the problem is we think we are so good that we are incapable of making mistakes and there by able to have a forum with out moderation, we are not and the sooner we realize that the better.

1 solution is heavy moderation of the main subforums to keep the level of pointless chatter at a minimum, keep "free thougths" as is but change "cesspoll" to a "free for all" with no rules and no whiners and no mods(unless in extreme circumstances), or delete it completly.

Or, if it's referring to a gender indifferent object, it defaults to the masculine. When I first came to sciforums, I didn't want to be judged as female because I didn't want the games that people play along with it. I never bothered to change it, because it wasn't important. You are just being petty and picking on one thing. I noticed however, that you barely denied any of the other things I had said, nor have you proved them otherwise. When is your last post, by the way?

I don't care if you are offended. Or maybe that wasn't entirely clear?

    Whitewolf- Sciforums. Not Chatforums.

    a) I think you have a crush on me, for sure
    b) Offended - DUH! Yes, I was really, really serious about you offending me.
    c) I already "denied" the other things you said -- you want me to repeat it ad nauseum.
    d) Don't worry -- it'll all work out, Sbagliatina. *SMOOCH!*

Et oui, tu m'aimes. My God -- wow.

How rude -- I know, I know. Speaking French and all when others are just calling each other "fucking dogs" "faggots" etc.

This thread's title should be more like:
Pixel puts Sciforums on trial, Sciforums falters.

Overreaction aside, this self examination may yet become healthy.
I noticed Chickydoo was the only new member for almost 2 weeks.
Got me thinking of a dying horse.
Something's got to be done right?

I have enjoyed many good conversations with some of you in my 5 months here.
-and seen a great host of idiocy, invective, ad hominem, purility, etc..
I thought that was just how it was here.
The first thread I was on was locked down despite good points being discussed.
Skeptical mod and buddies didn't like my points, insulted me and locked the thread. I stopped posting in that forum.
It's a big web, no big deal. But disappointing.

Perhaps a new thread, How to save the sliding quality of sciforums, or something.

On topic- get serious, pixel is a normal SF poster, as far as I've seen

I dont really know pixel and havent read many of her posts, so my comments are more aimed at the general theme of this thread.

As one of the less learned members of this forum i value having access to people more knowledgable than myself. Just recently a few guys here helped me out with a virus problem i was having which i probably wouldn't have been able to fix without their advice. I value that.

I think its a good mix in sciforums. You have serious threads which i enjoy reading, admittedly I rarely have anything worth contributing, but i value having access to them nevertheless. Then you also have the more creative and lighthearted threads involving a more social aspect with the sharing of ideas, opinions and having a bit of a laugh. its the combination of the two which makes this site work so well.

I can see how frustrating it would be if you're trying to have a serious discussion and some pleb keeps on popping up with inane irrelevant comments, so if i've got a stupid question to ask, unless its a quick one requiring only a short answer, i start my own thread.

Just delete the distruptive posts where possible and totally ignore the ones the mods miss. If they dont get any reaction whatsoever to their stupid posts the plebs will get the message eventually and move on to elsewhere where they do get a reaction.

    Pixel:
If you could stop using emotes, that'd be frellin great. Things like ~*smooches*~ aren't for here. It shows a basic inanity of the person posting; a laziness that finds it easier to supsend nouns and verbs by symmetric symbols rather than express literally.

Perhaps you are intelligent, Pixel, and from what I read, you could be. However, your minor expressions of "I laughed for five minutes" and childish punctuation are exactly what we're all here to escape from. We're here to escape from the drama of our personal lives and the idiots that surround us. We aren't here to chat. Chat is secondary or tertiary.

I'll admit that I've posted my good share of inanity, but Sciforums is really my first time venturing out on the great WWW– I'm still learning to speak HTML. However, when you seek acceptance to any group, you must abide by the group's rules. I find it's better for eveyone when I shut up and only read. I delete half of my posts before I even post them. For all 500 or so posts, I almost posted something else but deleted it because it was unvaluable. I find myself more and more often writing a draft before I post, simply so I can be succinct and pertinet to what's at hand.

But I'm no model of an ideal poster, just dig around. Actually, I already put some bullshit in free thoughts.

Maybe you could cut the bullshit and either post less inanity and more maturity, or just post less.

So Pixel, you've said it yourself, you're just a persona, and despite what you say, you are hurt by this. I understand you wanting to leave a community where its prominent members have rejected you. I also understand your reluctance; sciforums is a quality place. You could find yourself another persona and return less verbose, with Pixel's remaining pride intact and a second chance for a first impression.

Oh, you mean I'm not getting some members' approval and I should change and stop using the emotes and punctuating and stuff? Um, I'm not changing any online persona all of a sudden because the punctuation makes people's nose bleed. If I gave a rat's butt, I'd have cowered in the corner and been sombre, as requested. ??!?!?!??!? !?!?#%@#^ *@ $^@#!

Ah God. Salt, you shouldn't have started this thread, because it only motivated me to post when I was otherwise too busy.

Alright, I think I've said everything I'm remotely interested in saying. I promised this was the last thread I'd post in. Tell you what. Stop motivating me, and it'll work out great. I'm actually kind of tired.

Most defently not by being humiliated, that is just stupid period.

I think you forget that at the end of the day, this place is nothing more but a few bytes of data on a server farfar away, nothing here has any concequence at all, you cannot humiliate those that seek to have/make fun of/with others, you only risk goating them on, while possible createing a bad enviremt where those that don't submit to the commen way of thinking gets hammered and those that remain just keeps on pathing each other on the back. The problem will still remains.

Roman: Since this is your "first time" on the www using a forum, you should be aware of that this community here is nothing special, there are several million forum communities out there, some better some worse, but sciforum is nothing special. It does how ever have a nice selection of subforums, with or without good stuff in them, you be your own judge of that.

I also dont understand your need to bend to the will of the group, why accept the group if they cannot accept you for who you are, who are you if you are what others make you?.

Most people here -- and how we luv 'em all, dear little lambs -- are a bunch of tedious hypocrites and I wouldn't invite 'em to crash at anybody's penthouse party -- unless it were to jinx the midnight rave. It took me a while to perceive it all, but it soon became clear. Over the last three years that I've been coming here, I dropped, and experimented with (now less creatively than before), different styles and mannerisms (because the inspiration has waned), and, likewise, noticed a few other like-minded creative spirits (no, gendanken -- not you), with an enthusiasm that was creatively contagious; a sort of cyber anti-art form that I was hoping to get into. But no sooner did things start to light up for me in the earlier months, and no sooner did I get attacked for my "new wardrobe", that I noticed other posters "adopting" similar attitudes -- and words -- (their versions) to color their own "creative" expressionisms. Now, though, (and this is so stomach wrenching) I notice how new comers have unwittingly "taken on" other (popular) posters' mannerisms, like *grin*, yes?

Bottom-line: hypocrites because their "cool" rapping and "cool" attitudes and "cool" ideas are direct contradictions to their actions!

Substrata-line: ILikeSalt says: I don't like Pixel. Pixel made fun of gendanken. Pixel had a smart chat with Xev. ILikeGendanken. Genilikesalten.

Yeah the depressed creeps want others to be depressed too, for some dumb reason. Let 'em laugh and be happy that others know how to be happy, unlike you.

I still say that since there's no reason to ban we lock this thread which is approaching its 3rd page, 30 posts/pg.

There is nothing in that thread that is against site rules. Either try to squeeze out some substance, or admit you were wrong and leave her alone.
