[I posted this in the Site feedback forum and realized it should have been here.]

I think that sciforums should add a sematics section to the philosophy subsection. Semantics and Language are a deep subject that deserve a seperate place other than Human Science.

    The forums could include:

    Semantics/Language
    Human Communication
    Linguistics
    Foreign Launguages/Translations
    Ethymology, Roots, Definitions
    Word Games
All those tricky words (Palindromes, Anagrams, Portmanteu, Spoonerisms, etc...)
    Net Lingua
    Mnemonics
    Ambiguities
    Grammar and the like
    Spelling
    Slang (Termonology, Ebonics, Jargon)
Literary Languages and Alphabets (such as Newspeak, and the Utopian Alphabet)
    Puns, Cliches, Phrases...

The list goes on and on.

wot do we needs 1 of them 4's anyhows???

Sorry couldn't resist mimicing the current linguistic temparement of the current youth of today. Mobile phones and L33t phr34k to name a couple of small reason why linguistics is going down the pan in any language.

What sort of discussion do you think would be achieved in such a forum?

Perhaps we could give it a trial run?

A trial run is a good idea. Ask Porfiry.

I like the idea. There are a lot of English Class threads popping up everywhere, they could all go into the new forum, and we can explore language more deeply. Great Idea!

Maybe I should run a poll... What's the point though... Polls prove nothing.

I REALLY want this forum, and am willing to prostitute myself for it.

I really want a place where I can discuss linguistics. I'm learning so much of it by searching the Net, and I'm sure other people know about it. I need all the knowledge I can get. There are so many members here. Some are bound to know a lot of stuff!

It would be helpful for people creating conlangs (guilty) and have questions (guilty again).

    I say yay!

Or, let's just start a lot of linguistic threads. The mods will see that the forum we are asking for won't go unused if we do this.

    All in favor, say "aye".

    Aye!
