Registration disabled?

Today at school, I tried to register a co-worker into this forum. It seems that registration has been disabled.

Why?

When will some of my buddies be able to register?

Interesting. I had just noticed yesterday that the latest new member had been there for quite some time.

Is this the beginning of the end for sciforums?

lol, well sciforums is known on the net as "the forum that never bans anyone"......

of course, if they did start banning, I'd probably be first to get whacked.........I think I'll stop talking now.

i sent a PM to porfiry last week when 1 of my friends tried. he hasnt got back 2 me yet, i wonder what it is about

Anyway, it has been over ten days since the last person registered? Could this be the end of new members???

It's a conspiracy! or not...

You would think that Porfiry wants new members... especially since this seems to be a bit of a down time for the forum, especially in the smaller sunforums.

Yes....because all the new members have really lit up the place lately with their buring intellectual intensity.

I thought along those lines, but nearly two weeks of blocking new members because some are morons? Found that a bit long, alas I would agree that some posts are getting more ridiculous. Me saying that proves that these are dire times.

 

i was going to ask, is it not about time someone went through and deleted all the registered users with no posts who registered years ago? surely its just a waste of space....

About a week ago, I sent him two messages. I haven't heard back either. He's probably been busy.

 

I would hope this forum isn't closing down. It isn't as active as it was when I was here a few months ago, but it is still pretty decent and has a lot of potential.

 

Now that I think of it...

I don't know if Porfiry reads all these posts or not, but if he does I'd ask that he contact me if he ever decides he wants to shut this place down. I would consider buying SciForums (paying for domain registration, monthly fee for server space) and running this place myself. Of course, it would depend on how much it costs (I wouldn't be willing to spend thousands upon thousands upon thousands of dollars per year); how much computer/programming knowledge is required; how much free time I had at that point in time; and, most importantly, whether or not Porfiry would be okay with the idea.

Yeah, I did not hear anything from Porfiry in more than two months. But you might try posting in the xlife.org forum, he is pretty active there. But then again, he should also see the PMs...

 

I don't know if he got the two messages I sent him, but I'm reluctant to send more. I don't want to keep bothering him about it.
