    What would be the best xmas present you could get? I would love a three day fishing trip all in all paid for, just me and my best friend( my wife),

    Many things come to mind...a luxurious weekend at a spa...a trip to Hawaii...a castle....an island...an elephant...vr-glasses....a music studio....and worldpeace and all that. Oh, and shoes that play a song while walking with them( remember "Djingis Khan" from the European song contest, somewhere around 1980? That song.) , with lionheads at the knees.

    I want SOCKS!!!

    (Now this is working on a reverse-psychology note, every year there is always someone who can't work out what you want and gives you SOCKS even though you crave something completely different. This year I ask for SOCKS and then perhaps, I won't get SOCKS!)

    lol I know what ya mean, stryde. For some reason I have this horrible shadow of star trek following me wherever I go when it comes to presents from anyone outside of the family. Star Trek cards or star trek models that I didn't ask for or have never mentioned. I was obsessed with it A LONG TIME AGO, maybe even a decade, but now I'm totally over it but still get star trek things.

    I sound like a spoiled brat I know
    but if you think that you're a schmoe

    When I was a Starwars fetischist I thought it would be easy to give me what I wanted... But nooo! All I got was useless stuff like microwave ovens and lamps!!

    Now I´m over the SW-stuff and only wish for a nice evening with all of my family

    (and then I´ll buy myself what I want)

    the sock thing won't work...

    first socks have to get more expensive...as long as there are cheap socks around, your reverse psychology probably won't work....it will only make the person who gets you socks feel less guilty about giving you such a cheap "yet oh so very useful" gift. My hubby says, "if yer gonna get me socks, then get me...." and then he gives the name brand of socks (like Goldtoe).....so at least he gets something that lasts for a while, makes sure the person knows how long they last -- that way the person doesn't get him that 2 years in a row; that person being his mother---it's worked well so far

    Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
    Let's hope it's a good one, without any fear...

    War is over, if you want it...

    (the late John Lennon) But I wish for it, day after day. Year after year...

    A Christmas carol for everyone:

    O little town of Bethlehem,
    How still we see thee lie!
    Above thy deep and dreamless sleep
    The silent stars go by.
    Yet in thy dark streets shineth
    The everlasting light;
    The hopes and fears of all the years
    Are met in thee tonight.

    O morning stars, together
    Proclaim the holy birth,
    And praises sing to God the King,
    And peace to men on earth;
    For Christ is born of Mary;
    And, gathered all above,
    While mortals sleep, the angels keep
    Their watch of wondering love.

    How silently, how silently,
    The wondrous gift is given!
    So God imparts to human hearts
    The blessing of his heaven.
    No ear may hear his coming;
    But in this world of sin,
    Where meek souls will receive him, still
    The dear Christ enters in.

    Where children pure and happy
    Pray to the blessed child,
    Where misery cries out to thee,
    Son of the mother mild;
    Where charity stands watching
    And faith holds wide the door,
    The dark night wakes, the glory breaks,
    And Christmas comes once more.

    O holy Child of Bethlehem,
    Descend to us, we pray;
    Cast out our sins, and enter in,
    Be born in us to-day.
    We hear the Christmas angels
    The great glad tidings tell:
    O come to us, abide with us,
    Our Lord Emmanuel.
