Drunk Bastards...

I notice at a lot of parties that many people use drinking as an excuse to do things that they wouldn't typically do while "sober." Most of the time, these people seem like fakers to me...

For example. I recently saw a chick drink three beers and then "hook up" with three dudes (one for each beer I guess.) Even though she had a boyfriend, she was able to use the drunkeness as an excuss to behave in a way that she wouldn't normally.

Another example: I once saw a guy take three shots of vodka and then run down a street buck naked in the snow? After three shots...

I've had upwards of 10 shots of whiskey and several beers and have felt utterly inebriated, but never have I lost control of my mind. Sure, I've lost control of my stomach and my body, but even blatto I knew better than to try and "hook up" with my cousin or "beat up" my best friend.

    ---

Also, chicks at parties who start acting like fools; dudes that begin laughing so loud it is obviously fake; and two beer queers who start to cry and vent their ills with a blood alcohal level equal to Mother Teresa (yeah, I am exagerating) run rampid at college parties...

    What's up with this?

I think it's more to do with losing your inhibitions (sp?) rather than an excuse, maybe it's a fine line but hey there's no harm being done really is there?

Never blacked out? I always wondered what part of the mind is in control during blackouts. And what he thinks about things. Is it just a function of short term memory not transferring to long term memory, so the behavioral differences would be minimal?

But, there are a lot of fakers out there. I always wondered at their mentality. I bet they are the kind of people that hypnotize easily.

Also, you should consider that some people get drunk far more easily than others. Some can drink forever and maintain control, some get drunk off a couple of beers.

I'm more concerned with the fakers than with the actual drunks. I know that blackouts exist and I know that alcohol can make a person do strange things... but what is the mentality of the fakers...

Yeah, I know. But when you see a chick pound 4 or 5 shots at one party and remain "normal" and then she the same chick a month later "fucked up" on four beers, you have to wonder...

Personally i've never blacked out, but i think i know when enough is enough where as maybe people may not and just drink until they do blackout / passout.

And it does always grate on me when i'm "out with the lads" as this one guy can drink like a fish and i just don't know where he puts it all as he rarely needs to take a leak! (And no he doesn't have a colostomy bag!)

Fakers suck. It seems that on every party some of them hang around. I suppose they only act drunk because it is so cool.
But when they are really drunk and not just faking they are somewhat subdued and relaxed. But I know some people who really get drunk after about 5 or 6 beers, some even unable to walk after 8 or so. I mean, that´s nothing, wouldn´t even notice the bit of alcohol.

    Why do people fake something?

A line from Radiohead's "Talkshow Host" comes to mind:
"I want to be someone else or I'll explode."

I think this sums it up pretty much: Fakers are those who wish they would be somebody else.

And here, another line from a film comes to mind, from "The Talented Mr. Ripley":
"It is better to be a fake somebody than a real nobody."

Those who fake are afraid of who and what they are, they fear that they are "not enough". And sadly, such thinking does really make them to be "not enough" eventually.

    OOOH i cant stand fakers!!

I figured out in college that people use alcohol as an excuse for things they REALLY want to do. The girl that hooks up with 5 guys in one night, the guy that dances on the table and punches the bouncer, both people that i am sure deep down want to do this stuff "sober" but know that they are just unacceptable somehow are stupid enough that just because you are allegedly 3 sheets to the wind think its okay.

I have never seen anyone TRULY toasted and do stupid stuff like that. They are usually too busy puking in a corner or headed to the hospital after passing out and hitting their head on a table.

when drunk you do not think about consequences, its not as if someone else is controling your body. when you are sober you think about what will happen to you if you do this but when you are drunk you are just in the moment.

you only do things when you are drunk that you ant to do when you are sober,
i second dreamwalker, i have had about 10 shots of bicadi and still been able to function fine

I drank 8 glasses of water and felt inspired to write 'Romeo and Juliet'. Think I was faking it?

What?? you actually get guys faking being drunk!! what a bunch of twats, you should come over here for a party. If we saw anybody acting like that, they would be force fed booze first, and then be on the end of a good kicking. twats. Girls are just funny when pissed, and if you meet one who is, and her inhibitions are going, then just enjoy the ride. You guys seem to take a piss up far to seriously!

Ive never faked being drunk in my life. If im going to be doing something stupid, i'd rather not have to remember it in the morning. I thought that was the point? The not remembering?

And ive never totally lost control of my inhibitions no matter how drunk i am either, ive got mates who are always getting off with the not-so-pretty girls when their drunk and stuff, when im totally destroyed ive never done that... But i do say things i wouldnt when im more sober. And i have been in a few fights, when ive had a few drinks. Some people do get violent after a few pints, simple as that.

I don't think people who fake drunk really think "I should do this", I beleive they just exagerate thier state of mind. For example, a boy who is a little drunk may try to walk over to a couch but feel dizzy while doing so. He then sort of wobbles and nonpurposly seems more drunk.

Faking a high is a different thing!
