in the Islamic household, the wife has more say over the kids and the maintanince of the house. also, in Islam women do work despite what people think. an Islamic society NEEDS female doctors,nurses,teachers etc. the first woman doctor in the west was in the 18th century. women couldn't really get proper jobs either until feminism in 60's.

 

Any segregation of duties by sex is wrong. Muslims need a feminist movement of their own. Mind you, Japanese attitudes to women (or the media representation of them) give me the fear, too. And the wage gap in the U.K. is getting bigger in a lot of jobs.

Western wife beating is " unspiritual and unholy"? Assuming that you mean Christianity when you say this ( you didn't specify). Where in the Bible does it say a man can't hit his wife?

 

Yes I was referring to the few christians in the west who beat their wives. I said it was unspiritual and unholy because beating wives was in violation to what their apostle Paul commanded to love their wives as they love their own flesh. Im sure many of those men who beat their wives dont punch their own faces. So that kinda answers your question, indirectly. A christian can beat his wife if he beats his own body.

 

To do that they will need to defy the Qu'ran.... LOL!

Islam was the first religion to grant its rights. It is in no way oppressive to the female gender, for the Quran has set the woman is equal. Here is an excellent site, that despite the lenghy text, is quite educationing.

Here are some parts that I pointed out.

5. Historical records show that women participated in public life
with the early Muslims, especially in times of emergencies. Women used
to accompany the Muslim armies engaged in battles to nurse the
wounded, prepare supplies, serve the warriors, and so on. They were
not shut behind iron bars or considered worthless creatures and
deprived of souls.

6. Islam grants woman equal rights to contract, to enterprise, to
earn and possess independently. Her life, her property, her honor are
as sacred as those of man. If she commits any offense, her penalty is
no less or more than of man's in a similar case. If she is wronged or
harmed, she gets due compensations equal to what a man in her position
would get (2:178;4:45, 92-93).

1. Woman is recognized by Islam as a full and equal partner of man in
the procreation of humankind. He is the father; she is the mother, and
both are essential for life. Her role is not less vital than his. By
this partnership she has an equal share in every aspect; she is
entitled to equal rights; she undertakes equal responsibilities, and
in her there are as many qualities and as much humanity as there are
in her partner. To this equal partner- ship in the reproduction of
human kind God says:
O mankind! Verily We have created your from a single (pair) of
a male and a female,m and made you into nations and tribes
that you may know each other... (Qur'an, 49:13; cf. 4:1).

2. She is equal to man in bearing personal and common responsi-
bilities and in receiving rewards for her deeds. She is acknowledged
as an independent personality, in possession of human qualities and
worthy of spiritual aspirations. Her human nature is neither inferior
to nor deviant from that of man. Both are members of one another. God
says:
And their Lord has accepted (their prayers) and answered them
(saying): 'Never will I cause to be lost the work of any of
you, be he male or female; you are members, one of another...
(3:195; cf 9:71;33:35-36;66:19-21).
"

 

The bible is very ''peaceful'', it does not advocate beating the wife but KILLING her:

Leviticus 20:15 "If a man has sexual relations with an animal, he must be put to death, and you must kill the animal."

Leviticus 20:16 "If a woman approaches an animal to have sexual relations with it, kill both the woman and the animal. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads."

Notice that in Leviticus 20:15 the man has to be caught having sex with an animal in order for him to be put to death. We have to be sure 100% beyond the shadow of the doubt to kill him.

Notice however in Leviticus 20:16 that if a woman only looks SUSPICIOUS and not necessarily get caught having sex with an animal, she would still be put to death. We do not have to be sure 100% beyond the shadow of the doubt with her in order for us to kill her.

Hmmm, very interesting !!!! Don't Leviticus 20:15 and Leviticus 20:16 prove that the Bible prefers to put women to death whenever an opportunity presents itself?

Deuteronomy 25:11-12 "And in case men struggle together (in a fight) with one another, and the wife of the one has come near to deliver her husband out of the striking one (to save her husband), and she has thrust out her hand and grabbed hold of his private (the other man's groin), she must then get both her hands cut off, and the eyes of the men must feel no sorrow."

One has to ask himself a very simple question here: Why should the wife who is trying to save her husband from brutal beating by another man get both her hands cut off? and why should we not have any mercy on her? Does this sound inspired from God to you? Be honest with yourself.

Leviticus 21:9 "And the daughter of any priest, if she profane herself by playing the whore, she profaneth her father: she shall be burnt with fire."

Why a priests daughter be burnt in fire just because her father is a priest if she decides to act like a whore? Is this fair? Should it make a difference whether or not a girl's father is a priest or not?

Ecclesiastes 25:22 "Of the woman came the beginning of sin, and through her we all die." (from the Catholics Bible) Women in the Bible are considered evil !!!.

Ecclesiasticus 22:3 "....and the birth of ANY daughter is a loss" (From the New Jerusalem Bible. It's a Roman Catholics Bible); Roman Catholics today form more than 75% of the Christians population throughout the world. Why should the Bible give stupid (with all respect to you) generalizing statements like that about ALL women?

Islam's Wife-Beating

On January 14, 2004, Sheikh Muhammad Kamal Mustafa, the imam of the mosque of the city of Fuengirola, Costa del Sol, was sentenced by a Barcelona court to a 15 month suspended sentence and fined € 2160 for publishing his book 'The Woman in Islam.' In this book, the Egyptian-born Sheikh Mustafa writes, among other things, on wife-beating in accordance with Shar'ia law.

 

He says that without seeing the irony in the fact his name is 'proud muslim'.
You don't want to be seen as individuals, you reference allah and islam in every thing you do. You urge the world to see you as a unit rather than individuals.
Its seen as a reflection of islam when a muslim does something because he will invariably be screaming 'praise allah' as he does it. You act like cultist zombies so we assume thats what you want to be seen as.
