I think Thor is generally correct when talking about England as a whole, but there are places in London and the South West that are very cool to live in.
guthrie: I've lived in the South of England since I was four but have always been a British Citizen (Forces Brat). So I speak with youthful experience. tablariddim: There are some cool places, but they're usually as far away from other people as possible. And is it me or are we the worst country ever when it comes to families? We tend to avoid our families and try not to spend time with them while you see in other countries they make the effort or is this just my view?
I would like to live in Palau. Nice, clean, quite and warm. (for those who do not know, Palau is located in the pacific, right next to the Federated States of Micronesia)
America, America, America. I love New England and could not imagine living anywhere else. ILikeSalt, check your facts, crime is at a thirty year low and Interpol classes the US as a medium crime nation, the same class as Canada, England and Australia. In fact, I just walked home from the local pub by myself at night, as I often do and never have problems. Thanks to your hockey fans for booing our national anthem the other night at the game in Montreal. It was really classy. For those of you who might come to America, we don't boo people's national anthems so play it at will!!!!!!!!
id live in america ..... lol only kidding (ha) aus sounds cool... its got everything in that place... i live in 'england' which is alright i suppose, but it rains too much actually i might choose america... just for the diversity. i think though that the accents would annoy me after a while (5 minutes)
NORWAY: For the first time Norway is number one in UNDP’s ranking of the countries that have the highest quality of life in the world. This was presented in the Human Development Report, which is published every year by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The main theme of this year’s report is technology and development. Norway is in first place in the report’s Human Development Index. A country’s position in the Index depends on how high it ranks in terms of health, education, gender equality, life expectancy and GDP per capita. http://www.norway-un.org/cgi-bin/wbch3.exe?d=5473&p=2694
Australia and the other alternative would be New Zealand. Australia has great people, great beaches, places to go when you want a total escape from civilisation.. all in all, great place to live.. and I should know Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! New Zealand... no poisonous snakes or spiders Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!.. stunning scenery.. nice people... nice beaches in certain areas (eg Nelson)... I plan to retire there Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
I love Canada (and that's why I've chosen to live here!)... But think about it. There are many gourgeous places in the planet like the Bahamas, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Northeast Brasilian Litoral, little islands in the Pacific, New Zealand, Norway (although cold), Switzerland (although cold), Denmark (although cold!! Thor- the south of england? poor you. Thats a terrible place to live. I have only been as far south as Sheffield, but visited a friend in London and Farnham. It all too crowded, the waters terrible, the society is shot, and all in all, quality of life is far better up in Scotland.
The only way I would live in the US is for the money, otherwise no way. I would love to live in Austrialia, but Canada's pretty damn good.
Where the heck is Latvia? Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image! I've never heard of this country...

guthrie: Farnham's a nice place, very old and...well, it's nice seeing as though it embodies many things I hate about this country. Scotland sounds nice but for some reason, no offense, certain accents up there just make me want to jump off a cliff and land on the sharpest rock. My apologies. Avatar: Why the UK? Expand on yer answers man! And Latvia, from your LONG thread about a year ago, I can see why you put that. Also, long time no see!
Best can mean many things. I would choose USA for one reason only. As screwed up in the head it is, it has the most powerful military on the planet. That's how we can get away with being in serious national deficit. The USA is the bully of the earth. As bad as that sounds, I figure anybody would be better off working against it within it than be anywhere else. So if you mean 'best' as in best country to live in. USA all the way.
