This forum is going to be on what people thought about the book Black Boy, by Richard Wright. Feel free to give your thoughts and opinions on the book
argh i started reading my friends book but he took it back, from the first chapter i was very interested =)
I thought it was quite interesting, especially the end. The irony is, the very people who were supposed to be able to help him, ultimately, and indirectly, were also responsible for his downfall.
What downfall do you mean? I think his main purpose in life is to see things for what they really are, and not a fascade. I think he achieved that goal very well. He was able to see in the communist that the only reason that they shunned him was because he was different from they were, and because they couldn't understand what he thought they were intimitaded. He realizes that the core of the communist idea was equality for all, and he supported the core ideas, just not the group of communist because of their obscure interpretations of the idea of communism. Does that make sense? What do you think was his downfall?
Italiano, would you give me your opinions regarding The Future of Freedom by Fareed Zakaria? Perhaps some thoughts regarding his premise that a country need not develop economically in order to become democratic... :m: Peace.
Actually - I don't think you get it. Just because few here have read a book that you have does not necessarily mean that anybody here is illiterate. Just that they may have different interests. :m: Peace.
What you wrote could also imply that I am illiterate as well, and editing by putting the word some I included my self as an illiterate individual. It is both our faults for this misunderstanding, me for not understanding completely and you for not completely explaining yourself and being ambiguous.
Nooo... I was merely illustrating that different reading habits by individuals should not be construed as illiteracy by others. The only person to make such a statement was you. Anyway - no harm no foul. :m: Peace,
