    Indians Forced to Retake Land

I personally side with the Guarani, though I think the farmers should get compensation for the loss of their land from the Brazilian Gov't.

I also think it is in the best interest of these Guarani to ask Paraguay to annex this land. (the majority in Paraguay is Guarani Indians or mixed-race Guarani-Caucasian, and the first official language is Guarani)

    Your thoughts?

The Indians are going to lose. The farmers are going to get the land back, this was played out about ten thousand times in the U.S. during the 1800's

No one is forced to do anything, thus I don't buy the premise of this argument. Paraguay annex? What world is this? Paraguay is critically inept in almost every respect; Brazil would quickly destroy any Paraguayan advances on that territory. The realistic thing is for those Indians to either move to Paraguay or negotiate with Brazilian authorities, adding that land to the reserves is not a bad idea.

Perhaps, but this is different: in the 1800s in the US, it was basically legal for farmers to just shoot indians. The only way people actually cared about Indians was WMB. But now, a lot has changed. If Brazil were to just crush the Indians, that would probably get an angry reaction from the international community.

What do you think this is? Brazil is not going to crush them, why they don't present a threat. Simply put these natives have very little to latch on to.

If the Farmers kill the Indians the Brazillian government probably wouldn't say anything about it or help cover it up. The International Community's reaction if Brazil did a dirty deed I bet they could make sure the international community didn't hear about it. The International Communities attention is elsewhere currently.
For some reason this reminds me of a "Sepultura" song.

And when those last few remaining Indians start blowing stuff up to make their point I'm sure Brazil will call them Terrorists and the US will offer them a good deal on Apache gunships in return for modest logging concessions.

    How very predictable

I doubt it there more likely to get a few Soviet choppers, cause there cheaper and don't require well trained maintenance personel. I kind of doubt the logging concessions as well, I think Bush softened the logging laws here to the point that National Forest preserves might become National prairie preserves.

...and the gunships could be used to pick off the indigenous people from the air....
