I would like to petition the muslims, christians, and jews to stop violating the human rights of their children by making them wear religious symbols, and forcing their religious beliefs on them. There are no muslim or christian children! There are only religious parents using their children for political purposes. Children should be free to make up their own mind about religion.

No government has a right to "force" their laws on particular pice of clothing. What the French now the fashion police?. And head scarfs, hijabs, or for that matter those weird vandanas of the sixties, have nothing to do with objective laws, which would be concerned for the safety of citisens, not what they wear, no matter what religioud devotion a particular individual may have.

It is not the job of government at all, to come up with such absurdity, just as the government has no right to make any substance ilegal, as long that an individual is not cohersing, frauding, or violating anyones rights. He/she has the right to fry their freaking brains with pot or coke and wear what ever the hell one pleases.

This law is a joke, and a discremanation of peoples rights to wear what ever they choose.

There was a case here in the state of Texas; A long hair boy, twins for that matter, both with real long hair, were expelled from their school because they refuse to cut it. So they got a lawyer took the school to court and won their case. It turns out that it would be discrimanation against the boys to have long hair, because girls are alowed to have long hair. Anyhow the funny thing about this is that their lawyer had real long hair too!!.

On the turn of events brought by Spider, I tend to kind of agree though I don't think it should be a federal law, or anything like that. This would need more study wether the rights of children are been violated by theist parents by brain washing them early with their religious rituals and practice, with out the children having any say in the manner.

I have been put in a hole with this one, before. i.e;
My x-girlfriend is a Catholic woman, and she didn't want any influence of my atheism brought to light by me for her children. So did her x-husband before he died, also brought it to my attention that I shouldn't meddle with their children religious education.

I calmly explained to both, that they are not my children and that I do respect them and their religious beliefs, but if they ask questions and wanted to know my position I will not hide the fact that I'm an atheist and defend my position.

I as a parent I would not teach my children of any religious beliefs, though I would introduce them to the many varieties of religions in existence, and the atheist position. I have no children. However if I were to be maried and begin to procreate, I wouldn't even start explaining religious beliefs to my kids till either scenario happened: A- My kids asked questions related to religion. B-My kids asked me if they can go to church!, C-bring religious literature from school.

However I don't think a government has a right to "force" any kind of laws on the rearing of children, even when it comes to religious beliefs, unless the children are been cohersed, i.e incest, molested or negleted. Then by all means the state in order to protect the rights of the children need to intervene.

I'm making another point, silly syrian, that children should be free to make up their own minds, and their own symbols. Yes, I do think they should be allowed to wear what they wish, but I seriously doubt that any child would want to wear that religious claptrap. What is missing in this discussion is the parental pressure that forces kids to be little adults, and fight their parents battles in proxy.

Childern cant think for themselves (ie, they dont know right from wrong ) if you want to leave childern without their parents influence, they might grow up THIEFS, CRIMINALS...ETC.

Parents through true religion can provide their kids with MORAL COMPASS which otherwise they will not get from soceity.
