During the conversation between Neo and the Architect in Matrix Reloaded, the Architect said Neo would be required to select 23 individuals from the Matrix - 16 females and 7 males to rebuild Zion. Can anyone tell me if there's any significance with the number 23 and the ratio of the gender? Is it possible to spawn a population of thousands from this small number with the said ratio of female to male? Just curious....
I can't even count the threads on this same exact topic anymore. Each cell has two sets of 23 chromosomes.

cool skill, The threads that you pointed out discuss Matrix Reloaded & Revolution in general. I'm aware of these threads and had gone through them. But none of these threads addresses the subject that I'm enquiring. I'm really not interested in discussing Matrix in general. I have been told in the past that you need a pool of 150-200 individuals to be able to repopulate naturally without serious inbreeding depression. I don't know if this is true... I've also been told that cheetahs are so genetically similar to one another that one cheetah can take a skin graft from another without rejecting it.
Nope. It's part of the Matrix storyline. It's not real life. You will have find out from the writers or anybody that knows all about the movie to find out.
Not only 23, try more then 23. You have to figure that the 23 would help free more minds. That way you end up with more and more people.
