Ever heard of the Kinks? ive heard they are as good as the beatles, and grew and changed much faster, in afwe years, whereas it took the Beatles more like 10 years. Anyway, they are good. Have you seen the cartoon of "yellow Submarine"? Whoever did the graphics must have been on something, its great fun, and of course has many favourite tunes.
The Best Beatle songs, all of which are as good as each other (seriously): A Day In The Life Eleaner Rigby Fixing A Hole While My Guitar Gently Weeps With A Little Help From My Friends Day Tripper I Feel Fine Come Togther The Ballad Of John And Yoko Here Come's The Sun Don't Let Me Down Old Brown Shoe Here, There And Everywhere I'm Only Sleeping Revolution (or Revolution 1) Free As A Bird Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End Let It Be Across the Universe She Said She Said Black Bird Long, Long, Long. I've Just Seen A Face (Early Career) http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Limo/3518/main01.htm If you go to this website then you'll be able to listen to their songs but in an instrumental format [so no downloading]... I suggest you listen to the ones I've listed, if you haven't heard many Beatles songs before. Long, Long, Long is especially good in this format, I find. If you're a fan of Radiohead, then it may interest you to know that Karma Police's main influence was Sexy Sadie.
Perhaps it was because they wrote a song called 'Back In The USSR? By the way, Pollux V, Let It Be (Naked) the de-Spectorized version of Let It Be is supposed to be released near the end of the year. http://www.rollingstone.com/news/newsarticle.asp?nid=18698
Beatles... Lennon and McCartney's real genius was in the creation of unique melodies and harmonies. Sice melodic music is not particularly popular right now, it's not surprising people don't like the Beatles.
There was nothing unique or brilliant about their melodies, but they were surely ingenius for the time. I think their real innovation comes from the rock pulse of their music, which seemed to put women into a screaming rapture. Melodic music actually has a very big underground thanks to Iron Maiden: Avenged Sevenfold, Dark Tranquility, At The Gates, In Flames, Soild Work.
Hard to believe, but I never once heard a beatles song, ever. I probably have, but i would never be able recognize one of their songs if it ever came on the radio (i just have no insterest in them). The only thing i know about the beatles is that they were the most popular rock band ever and Yoko is a bytch. If its not Hendrixs or Zepplin, i really dont care much for 60's music.
I am not a Beatles fan. I don't hate them. I'm just not a big fan. There really isn't a specific reason for my indifference. Their music just doesn't do anything for me. Oasis is better, anyway.

You've probably heard: Fixing A hole Don't Let Me Down Come Together Ob La di- Ob La Da (sp) Good Morning, Good Morning Getting Better With A Little Help With My Friends Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds Free As A Bird While My Guitar Gently Weeps Revolution Let It Be I'm Only Sleeping the Ballad Of John And Yoko Back In The USSR Yesterday Drive My Car You've Got To Hide Your Love Away Ticket To Ride Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) Wait Taxman Eleanor Rigby Good day Sunshine Dear Prudence Black Bird Helter Skelter Hey Bulldog I Want You (She's So Heavy) Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End The Long And Winding Road Get Back Day Tripper I Feel Fine Old Brown Show All You Need Is Love Hello Goodbye Mean Mr Mustard/Polythene Pam/She Come In Through the Bathroom Window Across The Universe Strawberry Fields Real Love Hey Jude Sun King I Am A Walrus Here Comes The Sun Something You Never Give Me Your Money In My Life And thought to yourself, "WOW, ... this is really good... I wonder who wrote this...?" but you never found out. Well that's what it was like for me. And, of course, there's all those dreadful early 'pop love songs' about wanting to hold hands and singing about girls: From Me To You, She Loves You, 'Please, Please, Me', Can't Buy Me Love, Eight Day's A Week, Night Before, etc..
Speaking as someone so naieve of musical history and derivation that I didnt know oasis took a lot of stuff from the beatles and elsewhere until it was pointed out, I have to say that they dont improve on the original.
According to what criteria? If your just saying you think Oasis are better than the Beatles, fine, cant really argue. If you mean on originality or popularity, your wrong. I asked one of my colleagues at work about this, he pointed out how much Oasis owed to just about everyone else before them in terms of music, chords used etc. I have an Oasis album, but dont listen to it anywhere near as much as the Beatles. I was in first year at university when Oasis and Blur and Pulp were big in the charts, so there is a certain nostaligia value involved as well. At least tell us what is so great about Oasis, rather than tell us we're deluded. (Quick, wrap your head in tin foil, the mind bending rays are on us.)
Beatles were grand because they were excellent songwriters. Except ringo of course but he could drum. They created an amazing chemistry when working together that probably has yet to be matched... If you dont like the beatles you either have a profound dislike for modern music due to childhood trauma or enjoy being the prick that has to be different and hate the beatles along with monet and beethoven.
