The hottest places in hell are reserved for those who,
in times of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality.

Holding on to anger is like
grasping a hot coal with the intent
    of throwing it at someone else;
you are the one getting burned.

Yeah, you're right. Took it from the top of my head.

And for those who are interested..

"Violence as a way of achieving racial justice is both impractical and immoral. It is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. The old law of an eye for an eye leaves everyone blind. It is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding; it seeks to annihilate rather than convert. Violence is immoral because it thrives on hatred rather than love. It destroys community and makes brotherhood impossible. It leaves society in monologue rather than dialogue. Violence ends by defeating itself. It creates bitterness in the survivors and brutality in the destroyers."

    - Martin Luther King

That's an awesome quote, orange. I bet the man read it like a god.

I think I'm going to be a bit idiosyncratic and recommend some music instead of a quote. It's thinking music. Try downloading Venus, Mercury, and Saturn, from "The Planets" by Gustav Holst. So far the best version that I know of is the London Philharmonics, if you have a choice.

Mindf*ck quotes are supposed to get you thinking, right? Well, so are mindf*ck songs. Those are a few of them, and should more than suffice.

Our critique began as all critiques begin, with doubt.
    Doubt became our narrative.
Ours was a quest for a new story: our own.

Hindu Man: I'm going to Hell! I killed a child! I smashed his head against a wall.
    Gandhi: Why?
Hindu Man: Because they killed my son! The Muslims killed my son!
Gandhi: I know a way out of Hell.
Find a small boy, about this high, whose parents have been killed, and raise him as your own.
But make sure he is Muslim, and raise him as one.

    --Gandhi (1982)

There is a concept which corrupts and upsets all others. I refer not to Evil, whose limited realm is that of ethics; I refer to the infinite.

    you're living door to door,

The whole secret of existence is to have no fear.
Never fear what will become of you, and depend on no one.
Only the moment you reject all help are you freed.

What are fears but voices airy?
Whispering harm where harm is not.
    And deluding the unwary
Till the fatal bolt is shot!

    — William Wordsworth

"Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgement will be surer, since to remain constantly at work will cause you to lose power of judgement... Go some distance away because the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance, and a lack of harmony or proportion is more readily seen." - Leonardo da Vinci

Insanity in individuals is something rare - but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the rule.

"Intent is not a thought, nor an object, nor a wish. Intent is what can make a man succeed when his thoughts tell him that he is defeated. It operates in spite of the warrior's indulgence. Intent is what makes him invulnerable. Intent is what sends a shaman through a wall, through space, to infinity." - Carlos Castaneda

"This work is about transformation -- from the person we are to the person we really are. In the end, we can't be anyone else." - Marion Rosen

"The thing you are ripening toward is the fruit of your life. It will make you bright inside, no matter what you are outside. It is a shining thing." - Stewart Edward White
