After my one class the Prof was joking about some movie called "The Core" and we were talking about the engineering of such a craft. But to my question if you would somehow make a craft capable of traveling to the core of the earth, and you drilled through all the iron to the very center. And your craft was engineered to accept all the pressure and not crush. Then how would you return to the surface? Would the pressure weighing down on you prevent you from having realistic engines that could get back to the surface. Or since at the center would there be any difference in the effect gravity has upon you? I will be pondering this but I would like to find out what other thoughts there are.

I did not see the movie, but I can say that at the center of the earth (the center of mass that is) there would be no gravity working on the device. Hence, you would need some kind of propulsion to get back upwards. Also, as you climb, gravity will start working again (gradually increasing) so you would also need to compensate for that.

    Bye!
