Do credit card users spend money they don't have, or are they responsible shoppers?

Do you think people use credit cards to spend money they have, in an easy fashion, or to spend money they don't have? Explanations please.

    That's an easy one...

... since the invention of the debit card: a Visa card that is really an ATM card and the money comes straight out of your checking account.

People who want to spend their own money, without having to carry cash or a checkbook, use debit cards.

People who want to spend money they don't have yet use credit cards.

    What fraggle said.

That and people like the instant gratification deally, and the temptation to charge it is somewhat overwhelming to many. Where else are you gonna get the money? Borrow it. Yikes. I'm guilty!

People get way to caught up in the allure of the credit card. Too many young kids these days look at the credit card and get way to happy that they have so much money to spend. Hell, I knew quite a few friends in college who had two or three maxed out credit cards. Most people do not realize the fault of a credit card until it is too late. Furthermore, there are those who use it thinking mommy and daddy will bail them out. What I am trying to say is that I agree with the previous posts and that is those who tend to be sensible about money expenditures use debit cards.

People who want quick money now, and lots of it go for the credit card and then find themselves suffering from it's evil later on when the bills come rolling. Now don't get me wrong, the credit card is a very useful tool in times of emergency, but many out there just find it way to hard to resist the urge to spend so much cash. Everytime I open up my wallet I can hear it say spend me and yet I use that little thing called a conscience (yes i do have one despite popular belief) to refrain.

hard to say. i use plastic for convenience and it's better than carrying cash. but it's a debit so the money is already there. the credit card is for school things so my mom can pay it when she gets the bill. so i'll take a little of column a, a little of column b.
