I went to see this on Sunday night and came away with the impression it was just a film to "finish off" T2. I enjoyed it and there were quite a few funny parts but basically it was just an end to end chase. Arnold was showing his age, Sarah Connor was dead, so we had a new heroine - John's "to be" wife. That will be the last Terminator, hopefully. It has reached the end of its "life" so to speak now.
I felt differently. I went into the movie expecting something bad. I came out really liking it. I felt the movie added a lot of depth to up-til-then completely 2D characters. Sarah Connor was missed, but the actress chose not to return, what can you do? I really liked Claire Dane's character, she wasn't as push-over as I thought she'd be. I feel that they could possible do a T4 about the begining of the war, and actually do it without Arnold. Leaving that movie, I felt into the story line enough that it could be carried without the need for Arnold. Just my opinion, but if this director made a T4, I'd go see it. -AntonK
Oh I liked it well enough and would go see a T4, but think that maybe it has been bled to death now. Maybe if James Cameron had directed it..........
I have not seen the movie, and I really do. I have wanted to see it since I first heard about it about a year before its release. When I found out James Cameron was not directing it, I was thinking"man, this movie might suck." I will find out for myself.
I saw it with my dad and brother. I don't think they'll make another one because, to qoute myself "They've run out of sticks to beat this horse with."
i bet they'll make another. the whole movie was one giant set up. even the title: Rise of the Machines implies the fact that we are reaching the climax. we arent there yet.
SPOILER: They're set up for a sequel ... plotwise The end of the film left a logical opening for what seems a rather logical sequel, the war which leads us toward the first Terminator film. But a question .... Spoiler: If Skynet didn't become self-aware until it was out on the network (on every computer, every desktop, &c ... (closing monologue?), how did Skynet know to attack the network in order to bring about its advent? :m:, Tiassa Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Skynet existed as software and was not actually doing anything until they pushed that button in a vain attempt to rid the system of a supposed virus. But, as Skynet was a program that was "self aware" it invaded the systems in order to make it "look" like a viral attack - I think :bugeye:
Wow... I saw it yesterday, and what an amazing movie! It may be not the best Terminator but it's great and I'll wait for a number 4 : "T4 : the end". Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Bit disappointed to say the least. Not what i was expecting it to be like, probably would've been better if Cameron had directed it. *shrugs*
what i dont get is how the "terminatrix" was any better than the morphin dude (from T2). I mean, yeah, she had all kinds of mechanical tools, like the flamethrower, that the last one didnt. But she was a lot easier to kill. on the other hand, she did have that infecting computers capability...
she seems to be better but the end kinda baffles me. In the film we see her manipulating herself like in T2. But at the end if she even equal to him she could have lived cos SPOILER arnie wouldn't have been able to hold onto her as she would just become liquid and gone around him.
by DeSeRt RaT UK: quote: "arnie wouldn't have been able to hold onto her as she would just become liquid and gone around him." The T-X has a endoskeleton, so she probaly could have just liquified(totally).
Red Devil It makes sense that way, and it's what I would have presumed, but there's that reflective narration there at the end where Connor talks about Skynet becoming self-aware while out on the network; becoming self-aware in many computers. Maybe I hallucinated that part, I don't know. I was really stoned when I saw it. I can see the idea of the self-aware computer screwing with the network in a ploy to free itself, but my memory tells me there's something amiss about the sequence of events, as if that last monologue was tacked on for dramatic effect by a writer who wasn't careful. ("You! Here! Over here, now! I need twenty-two seconds of monologue to wrap it up and presage another sequel. You have twelve minutes!") re: Liquification Isn't the reconstitution process a little like startup time on a PC? I would think it takes too long in a combat situation. A quicksilver puddle leaping through the air as it reconstituted would be a cool effect, but it brings to mind visions of Dragonball Z. :m:, Tiassa Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
Actually, T-X wasn't like the T-1000. Those liquid thingies were nano-machines that enabled her to do certain things, like when she makes her boobs bigger or when she injects the cars with nanos in order to control them.
I've not seen it yet Red devil, but I've heard it's shit. What a waste of brilliant potential to an already great series. Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!
No Mucker, its not what you call it but its not up to the other two. If your going by friends verdicts or critics, all I can suggest is that you see for yourself, or better still, wait for the video/dvd.
