I haven't gone through this experience in about 10 years. I'm 23 now, and when I was a young kid, my dad would kinda force me to take naps, but I had no problem sleeping, until before I woke up (usually in the middle of the day).

This very odd feeling I would get prior to waking up would be that I was very small in this very large room; it would make me feel pointless, trivial, unimportant to the current situation. It didn't feel like a dream, but this feeling would stay with me when I would be in a sleeping state for years to come.

My mom is saying it was anxiety, but can I have anxiety while sleeping?

anxiety is a state of mind, and the mind seldom rests while sleeping.

no reason why u can't feel anxious while sleeping.

If you're looking for a medical diagnosis, then perhaps your posting on the wrong forum, and indeed, you could have had anxiety.

However, since you're in the Parapsychology forum, I assume you're looking for something a little more out there. Let's see what I can come up with using some educated guesses.

You could look at this feeling from a much wider perspective that you are very small in this very large room of a world. You are rather trivial. Perhaps you're just tapping into that feeling that all of us have had at one point or another while sleeping. That's what I would guess anyways. Don't get discouraged, just because you're a small spot on the universe's face, doesn't make you pointless. You just got to find your point.

So I guess it's either some subconscious, deep seeded feeling of hopelessness in this big ole' world that you're expressing in your sleep due to your unableness to express it during your waking life, or you have anxiety. Either way, if you haven't expereinced it in 10 years, I wouldn't worry about it.

I realise this post is a few days old and may be sort of dead, but i felt i really wanted to post.
I got this. I used to take naps during the day when i was young, and i would, at points, like a weird dream, get the feeling i was tiny, in an incomprehensably huge white space. Except in mine my dad would appear from invisible doors somewhere in the white space, and his form would be stretched and twisted to weird degrees, he'd be infinite, then he'd be a 1 dimensional line, then be very wide. He looked very serious and wore a dark trenchcout, and he'd walk across, change, then walk out through some other invisible exit. I'd feel like he was trying to make me follow him, and i'd have these very often. That was when i was very young though, my dreams seem often disappointingly realistic these days.
