Ones grasp of "reality" is based upon perception. Ones perception is filtered by ones own mind. It will grasp reject and filter to protect the self. Humans have developed many complexes to survive. These complexes have emerged in response to suffering, to protect oneself. We build the wall around our minds to protect our selves from reality(To protect ourselves from suffering). We become less and less aware untill we are nothing but a habit riden consciousness. This essentialy is suicide. These painfull hysterics emerges from abandoning our equilibrium. Hence those hysterics seperate us from "reality". Searching for truth when one is hysterical is comparable to running a marathon on crutches. It is esentially menatal retardation. To abandon inner balance is to render oneself uneffective and witless. Since inner balance and inner peace are the same thing, on the search for truth inner peace is essential.

Damn, isnt science just full of marvels?

    Yip, I agree totally...

Although its finding that internal equilibrium that always, to me, seems the biggest conundrum!!!

"There is one thing even more vital to science than intelligent methods; and that is, the sincere desire to find out the truth, whatever it may be."

The inner balance is lost when one desides to leave it. It seems to me that the biggest challenge is to break the habit. Generaly it is based on an inferior notion that the hysterics, will offer something more then a waste of time and effort.

What is the truth? I'm in constant search of it, yet I seem to be looking nowhere. I don't know what I'm here to do. Is our purpose the truth? Does the truth differ from person to person? Are some people here just to help others find the truth? WTF AM I DOING?!? No matter what I'm doing I feel like I need to keep looking. I can't stop looking. I thought I could find the answer through marijuana, but I've come to realize that its just an illusion. Does anyone else feel the same way as I do? Do you feel like you need to keep searching for something but you don't know what?

    The truth of what?
I think we're here to do whatever we do.
I think our purpose is simply to be.
    Looking for what?
Perhaps you are searching for meaning and purpose. I personally find meaning in the relationships I have with others, especially my fiancée. As for purpose, I believe that the purpose of life is simply to live.

Descartes said it best, "I think therefore I am". You exist you can know that much. The external world is something else entirely. Even if it is all subjective, then the truth is it is all subjcetive. Essentially there must be truth because I exist, so then there must be reality. Even if the reality is that I only exist then that is reality and that is truth. (Though I should note that I do not believe this to be the truth but, I can't say it is not possible.)
Truth is essentialy reality. To find out what is real, so that one may understand and act accordingly.

Purpose is a tricky thing, since purpose is individual. If an allmighty god created you to worship him would that be purpose. If your parents created you to pass on what they know would that be purpose. It may be purposes assigned to you but is it essentially your purpose? Mind you purpose is a human concept, just like defining our existance

You never stop learning, no one is more foolish then the man who thinks he knows all the awnsers. Though that does not mean that one can be content while still searching. Perhaps that is your "purpose" to search.

The first rule when you find yourself in a hole is to stop digging. Essentially it means to stop striving. Suffering is a chioce, being overwhelmed is a choice. Think about what I said at the beginging of this thread. It all comes down to inner balance. It is a choice to abandon oneself to hysterics. Hysterics are suffering and the seperate you from reality. Like I said hysterics are a crutch, a means of suicide. Hystercs become habit, habit becomes unconsciousness.

Essentialy, be with out effort and know nothing.
