    Here's another from yesterday.....

Surely any reasonable thinking US citizen, would make as much effort as possible to vote in their next elections, to throw this red neck fool out of office.

The Vietnam war was an unnecessary and unjust war, in which Australia also took part, and in which I actively protested against in two Moratorium marches in Sydney.
That did not, nor ever has stopped me from respecting all those that did serve and were involved in that war, both living and dead.
I expect Germans, and Japanese citizens also to continually show respect to all of their living and dead military personel that took part in WW2, despite being on the losing side and as history shows the initiators of that war.

Australia and New Zealand, has a national day of remembrance, for all those both living and dead that fought in all wars, we simply call it ANZAC Day...Australian and New Zealand Army Corps. A solemn day held by all, on both sides of Politics.

It's highly unlikely you'll get a Trump supporter to change their minds, they believe Trump is the next Messiah, their new Lord and Savior.

It often makes me wonder if Christ behaved, thought, acted and lied just like Trump, thus getting all the really stupid people to follow him.

Paddoboy, as a fellow Australian I would have to point out that we (& the Kiwi's) celebrate a massive defeat of our joint military forces so we think about the futility of war in a way that turns our national military day into a message of hope for future peace where it doesn't matter if you win or lose as how you play the game is much more important. Some people took this message to heart more than others. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H._V._Evatt#President_of_the_UN_General_Assembly

In the 1960's, prior to the Vietnam war breaking out in full force, there was a US president who said "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country." I saw an old documentary about this president that stated that he had 6 opportunities to take the US into war and declined each time.

In 2016 the current US president gained preselection from his party without being financially beholden to anybody for the privilege to run for president and many people on his own side didn't like that.

Just consider what an alternative US president, beholden to others on both extremes, will be asked to give them in return, something that the current president hasn't given them. The only thing I can think of is WWIII as the current president is good at brinkmanship, has reduced US military involvement in Syria/Iraq/Afghanistan/Europe and is just sabre rattling and exercising economic sanctions as opposed to outright military might. Sure he's a loose cannon but there is a method to his madness in this respect and the proof is in the pudding.

So Paddoboy, if you are wondering how the link to Doc Evatt (above) fits in with all of this just read the sections of text above and below the link. I think it is better to prevent wars and pay our respects to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice on ANZAC day by working towards preventing pointless and unnecessary deaths of both civilians and military personnel. After all Doc Evatt, and most of his peers, would be regarded as racist bigots these days.

He was, and remains, financially beholden to the Russian mob/government ( as well as various Middle Eastern and Central Asian sources of financial support, such as the head of the Turkish government). They've been carrying his paper and propping his financial status for decades.
"Both extremes"? There is not and has not been for a generation an American Presidential candidate financially beholden to anyone on the "extreme" left.
The American Left has relatively little money.
He's good at creating brinks where there were treaties and peace - he's completely incompetent at handling them. (Cases in point: Iran's nuclear ambitions, North Korea's agenda) And he hasn't reduced US military involvement anywhere - he's just shuffled the pieces around, while increasing net involvement of the US military both domestically and overseas.
(The Mexican Wall is a military scene, for example - the fact that he's incompetent and too corrupt to get it built to purpose doesn't change its nature and function)
The method is: whatever puts the most money in the pockets of Trump's financial backers, and grants Trump the most power.

Trump supporters don't know pudding from putrefaction - or shit from Shinola, as the Americans say.

That was the same attitude that got him elected in the first place.

There is a revenge factor, similar to not caring about the personal profile and past of a hired hitman. I've yet to meet the MAGA individual who privately believes Trump is a great guy character-wise, or cares about that as a qualification. Apparently people who finally decide to get medieval on their rodent infestations choose rat poison with crossbones, not corn gluten with a smiley face.

Agreed, and I thought I expressed that in different words.
That though certainly includes all that I have said about paying homage and respect to all that took part in wars that Aust and NZ participated in. My own personal protests against the Vietnam war, did not nor ever will stop me respecting all our military living and dead, that took part in that war.
I also payed my respects to the Japanese killed in Hiroshima when I was there in 2009.
The general populace does not start wars...politicians start wars.
I remember Doc Evatt when I was a hairy arse school boy, going to a Catholic school, and I remember him being labelled as a commo c%$# because of his political stance.
I also remember being labelled a commo c%$# later in life after becoming a union delegate and helping achieve the shorter working week, increased holidays, and increased pay, after a 5 week strike. That was in the petro-chemical industry. The ironic twist to that story is that on the very same day, I was confronted by a union member, who was not happy with what we had achieved, and labeled by him, as a rotten low bosses stooge!

Doc Evatt's heart was in the right place and what he was trying to achieve and prevent was just and proper for Aussie workers, while there may have been different paths to that objectivity.
He was also active in a period when Menzies had put the fear of God into many Australians, and the prospect of being taken over by the commos.
Ahh, yes, the Reds under the Beds nonsense that was prevalent at that time!!
This as you probably know, was known as the domino theory and was instrumental in Australia following the USA into the Vietnam war.

Whatever method is in the madness of Trump, I certainly hope the American people are awake this time, and throw this goon out on his ear.
