Oh, your Dear Leader went one step further about New Zealand..

Kiwi health officials announced just 13 new cases on Tuesday.

In contrast, the United States - the worst-hit country in the world in terms of cases and deaths - has recorded more than 5.4 million cases and 170,000 deaths.

"The places they were using to hold up. They're having a big surge," Mr Trump said.

"They were holding up names of countries and now they're saying 'whoops!'

"Even New Zealand. Do you see what's happening in New Zealand?

"Big surge in New Zealand. You know it's terrible. We don't want that."

Mr Trump also suggested New Zealand's elimination of the virus, something Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern attributed to her "team of five million" was in fact achieved to spite the Republican president.

"They beat it. It was like front page. They beat it because they wanted to show me something," he continued.

And your State Department is a federal agency.

Okay.. Read what I said and linked and then explain to me why you have again answered or responded to something I did not say in that response.

Yep. Most of which was at the start of the pandemic at the start of the year.

What your pretty image of headlines does not show is how your Dear Leader was still downplaying the virus in July.

    What part of:

    a) Americans can't actually travel to NZ, and b) people from America pose a greater risk to the world's population right now than New Zealander's pose the US if Americans can actually enter the country and somehow skip mandatory 2 weeks quarantine.

Didn't you understand, exactly? I'll put it another way. There was no risk to Americans from New Zealand's minute spike. Absolutely none. Why? Because Americans are not allowed to enter New Zealand because their borders are closed.

The administration's advisory about New Zealand was ridiculous because the borders to New Zealand is closed to begin with and New Zealand have so few cases they are more at risk of the US (given your astronomical numbers) than the other way around.

To make matters worse, Trump then went out in public and lamented how the US would not want what was happening in New Zealand to happen in the US because apparently the US was having a huge spike (at the time of his comments, there were 6 confirmed cases in New Zealand)..
The US Government was derelict in its duty in dealing with this crisis.

The thing is that it should have had the expertise to manage the country's response. You are the richest country in the world with the best scientists. And because of a failure in leadership at a federal level, your country failed right from the start. You have a President who downplayed it for months, who peddled ineffective treatments, who repeatedly declared that it would just disappear by April, who made dubious claims, who was more intent on blaming everyone else but himself and his administration for their failures. He was and continues to be irresponsible. Every Government managed and where they failed, acknowledged their failures when dealing with this virus and worked to ensure those failures were fixed and rectified. Trump and his administration are still to acknowledge any short comings, errors and failures and have instead lied about how well they have done.

It would be laughable if it had not spread to millions of people and close to 200,000 in a few short months in your country.

Perhaps you should read the article.

And how incompetent can your country's leadership be?

Then on February 12th, the US Center for Disease Control admitted that their COVID-19 tests were faulty. On March 12th, California Governor Gavin Newsom stated that California received testing kits from the federal government that were missing components required for use. It was not until March 4th that the federal government permitted non-governmental scientific entities to create a COVID-19 test. We are sorely lacking in the number of tests available per capita compared to other countries.

From February to March, the US had only tested 4000 people.

Obama was not to blame for what transpired:

On March 12, the day before Trump finally declared a national emergency due to the pandemic, the Department of Health and Human Services placed its first bulk order with 3M for $4.8 million worth of N95 masks. Nine days later, when there were over 30,000 confirmed cases in the country, it placed a larger second order for $173 million. Those masks would be added to the national stockpile, which was created in 1999 in anticipation of potential effects from the Y2K computer bug and expanded following 9/11.

But, the AP reported, the mid-March contracts signed by the federal government and 3M don’t require the company to begin delivering the masks until the end of April — after the White House’s forecasts predict the pandemic will have peaked

Why can't you answer the question?

You've dodged it repeatedly by changing the subject and context of the question. Here it is again:

    Can you answer it please?

Okay. The comment was in response to your whining about lockdowns and I quote you directly again:

"We're well past the need to "flatten the curve", so continued locked downs are now only delaying herd immunity."

COVID19 has caused close to 200,000 deaths in the US in less than a year. Your dishonesty is why you keep changing the subject and context to avoid answering the question actually posed to you.

That's okay. We've come to expect this from Trump's lackeys and far right wingnuts.

I can remember when the US was a world leader in everything from medical science to technology to sports to art.

Now we have Vociferous listing excuses as to why the US can't be as good as New Zealand. Make America . . . Have Good Excuses Again, I guess.
