Vaccines are a first line precaution, if and when available.
Social distancing and masks are other precautions.

    From a distance:
If one considers the human race to be a collective organism, social distancing , masks and other strategies, including vaccines are all part of that collective organism's response to a perceived threat of infection.
Perhaps it is way to abstract to post here... but it may be worth considering that any action to prevent transmission/infection as a collective organism's immuno response, ~ if anything to open the eyes to other alternative ways of looking at the issue.

    For example:
In virology how would a mask be employed as a part of a vaccine? ( creating a barrier for transmission)
How would the act of washing your hands with alcohol be taken up as an aspect of making a vaccine? ( dissolving membrane fats thus killing the virus)
How would maintaining an air gap ( distance) be part of preventing transmission across cells and viral reproduction? ( eg. preventing viral transmission from entering the lungs from the throat)
    and so on...

Perhaps an anti virus virus might one day be employed to attack the COVID 19 virus in a way that performs the functions mentioned above... ~IdeasRus

One will bear consequences whether one wants them or not, if one is not vaccinated. For instance, one might catch COVID-19, and might even die from it.

This being your considered opinion based on research, you will of course be aware of the various stages of trials that all vaccines go through before being approved for use in the general population.

I take it, then, that when a COVID-19 vaccine has been shown to be safe and effective, you will allow yourself to receive the vaccine. Correct?

For the first time in my life, I’m actually wary of the upcoming vaccines. I am not an opponent of them by any stretch of the imagination, just puzzled by my county’s (the United States) behavior. A weird reckless anti-intellectual sentiment has taken hold, and people are belief driven in ways that defy basic reason. Even rock solid institutions seem compromised in ways that prompt skepticism.
This is not to say I will never take them, but I’m planning to delay vaccination for a month or two as others beta test it before joining the injection schedule.

will they list all the ingredients so you can read them before you choose to purchase it ?

remember in the USA, you are a customer
you have a right to choose yes or no & you can shop around.
    in theory

Speaking as a British observer of the US political and social scene, it seems to me your analysis of the explosion of anti-intellectualism in the US is spot-on, and very disturbing. We have some of the same, though not as bad. I think a lot of it comes from the power of the internet to disseminate silly ideas and to enable people to choose narrow views of the world that reflect their existing prejudices. I hope and believe that future generations will be more internet-savvy and a more rational approach to sources of information will eventually return.

However I do not understand why this would make you reluctant to take up a vaccine that had gone through the stringent approval processes of medicine in the USA. It seems to me that safety checks on medicines in the Western world have never been stronger. There is no evidence I am aware of that these have been corrupted by the anti-intellectual zeitgeist.

I have no problem with any nutty anti vaxxer...as long as they are separated from the general community in cases like covid 19, and deprived from all social welfare and allowances.

I think they should just be allowed to live with all the other anti vaxers and find out why vaccination against things like TB, DipT, Measles etc are necessary the hard way...

herbalists & naturopaths tend to be anti-vaccers
though some are just complete nutters and probably need to be locked up[the religious nutter types & scammers]

but that is like saying a doctor
(the real ones) ... their level of knowledge and personal health is considerably more advanced than the average pedestrian
anti-vaccer for medical reasons as opposed to anti-vaccer for political personal ego problems & paranoid schizophrenia is the full tin-foil-hat-brigade difference
    Selective vaccination verses tin-foil-hat-brigade
if the vaccination is going to kill you or put you in hospital, its probably a good idea to not have it.
people with immune issues whom must juggle near life and death decisions around if they choose to get vaccinated and spend a week at home sick
instead of risking being hospitalized by a virus, are in a whole different reality from the anti-vaccer-brigade
Note : i have worked along side such people while they have gone through this type of thing

while i agree partially in principal
it tends to have an over all negative gain on the developmental psychology & culture of the society that watch the anti-vaccer nut jobs breed like rabbits and torture their own children to death.
it undermines the propagation and maintenance of empathy as a core social & cultural value in the superior observing culture which is soon manipulated by the bad people to exploit money & power and slavers etc.
this normalization of lack of empathy for the other culture breeds terrorism inside the superior culture

The evidence is obvious and before your eyes.

Just heard on the news that when a scientifically proven vaccine is available, and besides the refusal of all government welfare in Australia, any fool refusing the covid 19 vaccine, without appropriate clearance, will also not be allowed to fly.
Great news!! Hit em and hit em hard!!
Oh, and they [the anti vaxxer brigade] seem to have the support of the red headed nut from Queensland, Pauline Hanson.
For those that don't know Pauline, not long after she stuck her head into politics, she was asked if she was xenophobic...her famous, sorry infamous reply was, "Please explain?"

the false concept of ultra liberalism
with out the society which has Rules, Laws, Morals, Ethics & Customs, they would have no rights.

There are some of us that risk allergic reactions to vaccines.

and that is the point of doing thorough science in the use of them...and why it normally takes years before a new vaccine is released.
If you have concerns talk to your Doctor and weigh up the risk factors like we all have to do...

that is why a lot of (Real)naturopath(& [real]prescribing herbalist naturopaths) patients are medically high risk with complex immune issues
they consult between their GP & their Naturopath about finding the least worst thing that will help them stay out of hospital ICU

completely different to a ultra liberal anti-vaccer (or the religious narcissists) or the Tin-Foil-Hat Brigade

I'm not a anti-vaxxer, and I believe in God. Pacifism is something to be believed in, so leave space for faith. Personally I believe in God without aprehension, but not away it.

belief in a higher level of authority & accountability & control of the chaos can bring some small thing to hold on to in the middle of chaos & insanity

cynical people who are not real cynics but use cynicism to attack the world around them to feel in control are the opposite end of that scale

morals & ethics are more important than faith when faith can be used as a weapon against those who hold it
