Trumps has been promoting experimental use of this drug with out the appropriate trials and be killing thousands of his supporters and all the other people foolish enough to listen to his words.

Little wonder that Dr F has abandoned ship as to remain on board would be totally unethical and implicate him in the crimes of the President.
The president may not be charged with an offense but those who do the lying for him can be.

Edit: I just noticed Dr F is in attendance at today's WH press conference.

 

Flattening the fudge:
Much has been made about flattening the New Case curve. Many nations states, regions are suggesting that the curve is being flattened and true given that the tests are restricted only to some symptomatic persons it is not hard to see how this flattening may be evidenced however it hides the reality that is currently beyond the scope of the testing regimes being employed.
For example:
Australia is among the leading nations in the world in testing numbers per million.
11,903 per million to date 08/04/2020 ( Australia)
5,784 per million to date 08/04/2020 (USA)

but the testing is heavily restricted and therefore the Confirmed case numbers are a fudge when it comes to describing the real situation in the population.
Australia is about to expand testing to take in those that may not be symptomatic and other criteria which will provide a better understanding of pandemic severity.

The notion of flattening the curve may very well be an illusion, fed by the use of deliberate statistical manipulation.
The ratio of death to Confirmed case is currently (08/04/02020)
CC 1,424,101 / deaths 81,889 = 17.4
so this means that for every 17.4 confirmed cases, 1 death occurs
ratio 1:17.4
Once proper and thorough testing is carried out (including untested fatalities) a more realistic state of play may be realized.

no, they repeatedly refer to the flattening of the confirmed case + new case curve which they believe will have an eventual flattening of the death curve due to the time lag.

 

According to radio reports the USA death toll has gone through the roof ( yet to be registered on worldometer data)

 

The restrictions on testing distort the reality of the stats terribly. We have always known this but so often it is ignored when being reported by politicians and media.

Example:
Thousands of people are in isolation in paid hotel rooms here in Australia. (International arrivals)
They are there untested for at least 14 days.
They are only being tested if they display symptoms.
News today : family of 7 implicated with 2 members testing positive AFTER showing symptoms.

The Confirmed case numbers are far from realistic...
Many are being allowed to leave after the 14 days expires. Untested.
The assumption of only 14 day incubation is terribly inadequate IMO.

 

Pence has a sense of grace and class that Trump doesn’t have - he doesn’t read from a script like Trump does. I’m glad to see there is a glimmer of hope.

I’m kind of confused though that they were predicting 200k deaths and today, the message is much more uplifting. I can’t help but wonder if Trump is pressuring doctors to get the economy back on track. Just seems like such a roller coaster ride with these briefings.

Thats not the conversation , discussion , in New-York . The flattening of the curve is death rates per day . And hopefully starts to go down . Soon . If not now .

 

The Governor of NYC and Dr F etc were quite specific. Where are you getting your understanding from?

 

How does a person qualify as a death from COVID-19 (other than being dead)?
How many deaths are occurring that have not been tested for COVID-19?
Is testing being done post death?
Are the deaths directly related to confirmed cases using a restricted regime of testing?

It may be the street conversation in NYC sure... but that doesn't relate to my post about testing fudge.

 

Try and explain the obvious disparity with out launching in to conspiracy theories:
after about 3 months
=====
China population 1.4 billion
81,740 confirmed cases
3331 fatalities

vs

USA population 370 million
394,164 confirmed cases
12,748 fatalities

=====
3 months for China
about 1 month for USA


the disparity is staggering....

 

Why fudge testing results ?

 

I do not believe there is any conspiracy involved.
It is simply that the availability of test kits prohibited global testing and had to be heavily restricted.
But it is important to know that the results of limited testing can not be reflective of the real situation.
To say they are flattening a curve based on terribly biased statistics is not a good thing...
The message being put out there, because of those biased stats ( fudge) may be and most likely is overly optimistic.

 

Perhaps , but there are going to be ups and downs with this virus . As we all know .

 

It seems to be a feature of his condition, whatever it is, that he posts irrelevant stuff. Normally he is trying to work the thread round to microtubules or hive minds.

But I can't see a way he can do that from here, unusually for him.

 

I did not introduce the monetary aspects of this pandemic into the conversation. My posts were in response to someone else's remarks about the economic consequences.

But if you want to stay on topic. Then instead of beating around the bush and engage in a serious discussion on viral diseases, can you tell me how viruses manage to use the host's cell mitotic machinery? Seems to me that is not only pertinent, it is crucial in combatting viral infections.
I think I have an idea on that, but you don't want to hear it, it's that simple.

IMO, that was moving an on-topic observation to an off-topic thread. But I can live with that.
