    Well let me tell you.
The virus (was/was not) created by ( The government/hidden players/ theists/atheists/aliens/ mere chance) to (create a world government/to head off world government/ sell ventilators/ force folk to watch free tv/ sell excess stocks of canned foodstuffs.
It will ( be ok / be the end of the world/ herald an alien takeover) and we will ( all die / invent an alternative to toilet paper/ decide that staying at home works to head off climate change).
No prizes but who has a theory that will have all tremble in fear?
Yes I have not left the house..not even to get my medication.

From an existential perspective, how the entire world has lost its way with greed, corruption, obsession with self, etc. I think a tragedy like this can help people realize that we are connected, as humans, and we need to start helping each other instead of hurting one another. Our focus collectively and maybe individually, has been very self-absorbed and something like this changes our everyday routines and lifestyles, to the point where I hope when we come out of this, we become more selfless. If the majority of the world goes right back to the way things were, that will be really sad. I find it interesting that the news really isn’t discussing politics at all these days. Life, love, health, safety, etc are all more important. Just my thoughts on it.

I agree. The only thing that I think the news shows could do a better job of is to add a little positive information in addition to letting us know how bad it is.

Meaning, letting us know that some area are doing a good job and some areas need to remember to stay in more. Talking a little more about when the virus will peak, reminding us that it will be a little more normal by this summer.

What we can do to help prevent a relapse next fall, etc. Not that we should downplay situations like NY and Italy but just in addition to that some more positive news. Day after day of the politics with no upside doesn't help when (apparently) much of the population is prone to panic anyway.

Sometimes politicians are their own worst enemies. I remember during the G.W. Bush years when things couldn't be going worse for him (largely due to his actions) that there was little communication explaining why the government was doing what it was doing.

People like to be kept informed even when times are bad.

So true. But good news doesn’t sell. We have to find our own ways of generating good news in our lives. Whether it be through exercising, praying, meditation, journaling, cooking a new meal, or calling friends to bring hope - there are things we can do to enhance our mental health right now. The news is a business and it relies on ratings. Good to stay informed, but too much news is not healthy right now.

I went for an amazing nature hike this afternoon - and it felt like nothing terrible is going on, just for an hour. If your hope, happiness and purpose in life is wrapped up on material things, your job, even freedom to do as you please - you’re going to struggle right now more than is necessary.

I agree and certainly just sitting around looking at the news all day never has been a healthy thing to do. My point wasn't really about expecting "happy news".

Since the news (now) is about providing information about Covid 19 some of the information could be about how long this phase is expected to last and how things will change after that.

Getting outside is always a good idea.

This is very funny. Where are Magic Realist and Fat Freddy when you need them, eh?

But perhaps they'll show up with some variant of what you have written, in due course.

I saw a nutter on you tube rattling on that "they" are confining us to our homes so the arrests of people won't be noticed..you know those folk who although boring and insignificant are on the watch list "they" hold in secret.

Bill Gates is behind it, he warned about the virus, clearly a message so "they" could prepare.

He is trying to panic folk so they buy his new anti virus software due for release soon...he has everyone indoors to maximise the impact of his add campaigne.

Watching two women on tv fight over toilet paper may be an exception.
Decent folk will do the right thing... the others will just see opportunity to rob you blind unfortunately.
You are decent your thoughts give me hope.

Thanks, and I think you are, as well.

I'm still confused by the obsession over toilet paper, tbh. lol Actually, all paper products...well, I guess it's a domino effect, when stores started running out of toilet paper.

When people around here think it might snow the shelves become bare in some parts of town. People be crazy sometimes or as the great Ike Turner liked to say "What the problem is?".

I got a hundred acres here with mostly plantation trees...plenty of leaves...natural, bio degradable and green.
Just had my bush basher arrive so I get to see all the place for the first time.

    And I thank you.

One day there were no eggs.. why?
    Can you freeze eggs?
How would you store them ?
Maybe folk making their own pasta.
I heard today that seedlings and vegetable seeds have all gone which ticks me off because I was going to start a little garden this trip up.
Might have to make a bow and bag a kangaroo or rustle one of the neighbours cows...he boasted two freezers of beef so I hope we can all pull together.
Caravans are selling fast, I guess folk think to get out of the city..but caravan parks are closed.
Good news for me...when the crisis is over and folk have little cash I camebuy from a selection of vans no one wants.

I hope I can get some meat to morrow, a leg of lamb I will fight for, even some beef mince, but a steak Mmmm and some flour to make a camp oven pizza..nothing better. Even some blade steak which I smoke ..it is just so good. Maybe a chook over the fire..mmm smoked.

You look after yourself and continue to be positive... just think about it as a neat story that you can talk about in thirty years.
We are lucky to be a party of history... maybe the last humans on the planet... that would be something.

I have 133 acrea of farmland for sale at the moment. It's in another state so it's not a place that I can go to. This might not be the best timing as far as listing it

Please Register or Log in to view the hidden image!

but the listing is for 1 year so I'm sure it will work out eventually.

I already had one offer but I'll wait for a better one.

Is the value of your land in the timber value?

With this crisis you should find more buyers enter the market, tailor your adds to attract folk who want a place to escape. Your opportunity will be good because these will be folk who will not have been looking so act almost reluctant to sell and you should get a good sale..if listed take it off for say six weeks so you can boast it as a new listing ..the weather should play along...it's like summer over there.
I don't believe so, I was just buying a place to give to my x and my daughter..I paid thru the nose in my view but this was not an investment thing...the trees are flash apparently but they need another twenty years maybe...but the tree owner does not get much...but there is probably 6000 of them so in time at 20 dollars a tree there is a nest egg I suppose.
Real estate is very cheap where I am ..if it wasn't I wouldn't be here.

Mine will be selling to farmers and farming is not doing great at the moment. Farms like mine don't come up often though so that's in my favor. Due to capital gains they tend to just stay in family hands and the basis is stepped up when passed from one generation to the next. I don't have kids so I will be selling but I'll have to pay a lot in taxes.

When families have a lot of kids, upon inheritance the farmland gets cut up as different kids sell. I'm an only child so my farm is intact.

Most farmers in the area can't afford a $460,000 or so purchase at the moment. Of course we are looking for the few that can. In this case marketing takes a while. I did have a $420,000 offer after one week but it's been quiet lately.

Have you thought of offering finance to the buyers?
Are you sure the offer was legit?
If thru an agent always be suspicious.. One thing that went on and ticked me off was "vendor conditioning"...a constant process to wear down the vendor and constantly reduce the price..if you have an agent and they are saying drop the price get back to me as I may be able to suggest a plan.
I did well because I really represented my vendor..I constitently got prices the other agents could not believe.
Most agents are not worth feeding as they think only price..anyways I could write a book...
Your best buyer will be adjoining owners.. you probably could strike a deal where you spread the price somehow..or a fix a low price and a high interest to spread you tax...
