    Like what?
Again, like what? It's easy to snipe when you don't ever refute citations (like the three polls showing public approval of Trump's handling of the epidemic) and make such empty accusations, which I will be surprised if you substantiate (other than some guilt by association fallacy with someone who actually believed some conspiracy theory).

Right, the Bozo administration was taking bold action by restricting incoming travel from China, and imposing various quarantine measures on those incoming travelers, but they weren’t doing any testing of those travelers, or international travelers in general. The one thing that could have rapidly identified who was infected and who was not was beyond their self inflicted capacity to do so.

The Department of Health and Human Services, which includes the CDC, has begun an internal review to assess its own mistakes. But outside observers and federal health officials have pointed to four primary issues that together hampered the national response — the early decision not to use the test adopted by the World Health Organization, flaws with the more complex test developed by the CDC, government guidelines restricting who could be tested and delays in engaging the private sector to ramp up testing capacity.

Combined with messaging from the White House minimizing the disease, that fueled a lackluster response that missed chances to slow the spread of the virus, they said.

Contrast the Trump circus’s action with that of Trump’s less favored Korean nation.

Just one week after the country’s first case was diagnosed in late January, government officials met with representatives from several medical companies. They urged the companies to begin immediately developing coronavirus test kits for mass production, promising emergency approval.

And Democrats were busy playing impeachment and have minimized the virus themselves as well. This is why NY is such a hot spot. Trump wasn't in control of when they shut down the subways or NY politicians telling people to go out and celebrate Chinese New Year. Nor even the CDC deciding which test to use. Politicians rely on their medical advisors, like the CDC.

Ah, so you like Tiassa's tactic of inferring people might be stupid but never getting around to refuting anything they say nor even substantiating any of your own claims. Cute. Boring, lazy, and ignorant, but oh so precious.

    Nonsense.
The Democratic Party was attempting to remove a major obstacle to adequate US response to this and future pandemics. They failed - that's part of the reason NY is as bad a hot spot as it is (being the major port on the Eurasian facing coast guaranteed it would be a hot spot to some degree).

Had they succeeded New York would in all probability have fewer cases and slower spread, as Trump's blocking of information about the virus,
combined with his elimination of the people and agencies formerly dedicated to dealing with such diseases,
combined with his reduction of public health services and moneys (for equipment, etc),
combined with his refusal and/or inability to use his executive powers for emergency response initiation,
combined with his inability to find and hire competent executive talent capable of covering for his professional inadequacies,
combined with his willingness to mislead and lie about physical circumstances critical to the responses and plans of other people forced to rely upon information he controls,

almost certainly made things much worse in New York. The simple act of Federally ordering masks, gloves, gowns, and ventilators from US contractors upon learning of the spread of the virus and the nature of its treatment - information Trump would have had in hand months before he was impeached had he not eliminated his main sources, and did have in hand by mid January at the latest - would almost certainly have saved us dealing with many hundreds of cases in New York alone. And then there's the test kit debacle - which is still being covered up, despite the cost in lives and money, while it's still in progress.

Over the coming two to four years many thousands certainly, possibly hundreds of thousands, outside chance of millions of American citizens, are going to die or be crippled, be impoverished or bankrupted, additionally and unnecessarily, by this disease
due specifically and causally to the Congressional behaviors, Presidential actions and speeches, and media influence, of the Republican Party in the US. As the Christians say: you can't bullshit the Four Horsemen; as the Christians say: God is not mocked.

If Trump wasn’t busy playing mob boss and trying to extort foreign leaders into doing his private bidding, the Democrats wouldn’t have been forced to play impeachment in the House, and the Republicans wouldn’t have been forced to pretend that Trump did nothing wrong in the Senate trial.

New York is such a hot spot because it’s a major destination for international travel and the most densely populated city in the nation. Trump had the authority to test and quarantine all international travelers entering the US from the time he was made aware of the potential pandemic by his various agency heads, but instead he chose to only apply limited restrictions to travel related to China. He obviously didn’t have sense enough to realize that people who travel to China interact with those who haven’t, and those that haven’t can come from anywhere. So much for Bozo’s Chinese virus label. How about the Italian virus, or the Spanish virus?

Who is responsible for appointing the leadership of HHS, FDA and the CDC? Andrew Cuomo ? These agencies if properly staffed should’ve been prepared to deal with this pandemic more effectively. The FDA had the authority to allow private labs to develop their own tests from the time HHS declared a national health emergency back in January, or acquire tests from existing sources outside of the US. Even when his own agencies ran simulations that cite the lack of preparedness of the federal government to deal with a pandemic, Bozo still had the gall to say:

"Nobody knew there would be a pandemic or epidemic of this proportion. Nobody has ever seen anything like this before. ... Nobody ever thought of numbers like this."

President Trump insisted Thursday that his administration was prepared for the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, but he also said: "Nobody knew there would be a pandemic or epidemic of this proportion. Nobody has ever seen anything like this before. ... Nobody ever thought of numbers like this." It turns out that his administration had gamed out an eerily similar pandemic over the first half of 2019, The New York Times reports, and issued recommendations in October that highlighted how unprepared the U.S. was to deal with such a respiratory virus outbreak.

Trump was still withholding information about the virus on the date of the Chinese New Year, January 25th 2020, and spreading falsehoods about it, and suppressing information from Federal agencies and sources that New York officials were relying on - New York City has no separate diplomatic channels with the Chinese government.

Meanwhile: Trump has been continuing the Republican policy of wrecking the CDC, in Trump's case via budget cuts and poor or no appointments and threats to anyone defying his edicts, since he was elected - here's an article from 2018: https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2017/5/24/15684750/cdc-reaction-trump-public-health-cuts
And back in 2017, when the competent and epidemic-experienced director of the CDC resigned under Republican pressure: first this one, who followed up her directives mandating PC language on CDC budget requests ("“The CDC is facing real budget restriction in FY 2019,” the ex-official said. “There’s going to be no budget line for global health security at this point, among many other likely cuts that are coming. And the budget office is in the position of having to get more funding. They’re going to do that by saying things that will resonate with their audience” — an audience of conservative Republicans. ) with her resignation after news broke of her career-long history of conflicts of interest while holding government office: https://www.politico.com/story/2018/01/30/cdc-director-tobacco-stocks-after-appointment-316245
    https://www.vox.com/2018/1/31/16954882/cdc-director-brenda-fitzgerald-resignation-tobacco
    and then this one: https://www.skepticalraptor.com/ske...tor-thomas-frieden-resigns-trump-appointment/

Fascists are fuckups. When they are in power in a representative or democratic republic, they do not know - or care - what they are supposed to be doing.

As president of the US, you can't deny that a crisis exists when it's already begun, treat it like a genuine crisis later on after it's already grown out of control, and then claim you did a great job on the whole affair from start to finish. The Trump of 3 weeks ago basically accused today's Trump of being a retarded liar and conspiracy theorist.

Just to add and no doubt you have already considered this:
It is worth noting that when an expert to such a critical organization takes the extraordinary step of resigning he, the head of such a critical department, would not do so lightly. His intimate knowledge of the CDC's Charter and mission, and all things to do with the CDC resigns with him. He has to also acknowledge that his life long career is more or less over.

As an obviously very smart person this director would know full well how this would cripple his organization and would decide to leave the organization only under very extreme circumstances.

In other words, the resignation of such a profound member of such a critical organization should not ever be underestimated as to the ramifications of such. The internal damage done to the organization should also not be underestimated.

It must be so sad that you have to keep up these pretenses, even after rounding losing.

And every Democrat was against him even doing that much. Easy to see how much worse off we'd be if any of them were in charge.
Viruses are commonly named after their place of origin, like MERS (Middle East respiratory syndrome), West Nile virus, Ebola, Zika, etc.. It's an ignorance unique to leftists who think Trump did anything out of the ordinary by referring to it by it's place of origin. It must be so sad to be so ignorant of even the relatively recent past.

Even the WHO repeated the Chinese lie that it wasn't human-to-human transmissible and urged against ANY travel restrictions at all. The WHO tests were also less precise.
To identify the virus, the C.D.C. test used three small genetic sequences to match up with portions of a virus’s genome extracted from a swab. A German-developed test that the W.H.O. was distributing to other countries used just two, potentially making it less precise.

But soon after the F.D.A. cleared the C.D.C. to share its test kits with state health department labs, some discovered a problem. The third sequence, or “probe,” gave inconclusive results. While the C.D.C. explored the cause — contamination or a design issue — it told those state labs to stop testing.
    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/28/us/testing-coronavirus-pandemic.html
So you can continue to play your sad little game of blame Trump, or you can get over all your petty indignation. Your choice.

One month ago, Dr. Trump MD didn't follow the warnings and advice of his own nation's top experts, and those experts rightly say that he cost the US precious time in responding to the virus. It was not inevitable that this many Americans would become infected and die. Trump of one month ago called today's Trump a liar and conspiracy theorist, the words came out of his own mouth on national TV. I can't blame people for kissing his ass so much though, that fox on his head looks real fluffy and cute.

What pretenses? The only pretending occurring during the entire impeachment ordeal was by Bozo and his Republican ass kissers, who had to pretend that facts don’t matter and that he did nothing wrong. You don’t consider it a loss to the country that the current leadership of the Senate and Executive branch are composed of corrupt individuals and a criminal?

When a Democratic president is in a similar position to fail as Trump did, then you can criticize their conduct. Bozo had the chance to get ahead of the game when he took over three years ago, but instead decided to ignore warnings to prepare for the inevitable pandemic and now has to accept the blame he deserves. Stop trying to excuse your president’s actions and start demanding he do his fucking job.

Who else of prominence has been calling it the Chinese virus? We all know that the childish person playing US President was going out of his way to take a dig at the Chinese government. And you and your infantile leader need to get up to speed on the current policy for naming diseases.

“ Under agreed guidelines between WHO, the World Organisation for Animal Health and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, we had to find a name that did not refer to a geographical location, an animal, an individual or group of people, and which is also pronounceable and related to the disease,” Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus explains. “Having a name matters to prevent the use of other names that can be inaccurate or stigmatizing. It also gives us a standard format to use for any future coronavirus outbreaks.”

The caution in naming the disease somewhat stems from controversy surrounding past names of new diseases, in particular MERS in 2013. MERS, or Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, was initially labelled 2012-nCoV (2012 novel coronavirus), much like the latest disease was first dubbed 2019-nCoV.

    https://newatlas.com/medical/who-names-novel-coronavirus-covid-19/

No, the WHO said this on 1/12/20:

According to the preliminary epidemiological investigation, most cases worked at or were handlers and frequent visitors to the Huanan Seafood Wholesale Market. The government reports that there is no clear evidence that the virus passes easily from person to person.

Based on information provided by national authorities, WHO’s recommendations on public health measures and surveillance for novel coronaviruses apply.

    https://www.who.int/csr/don/12-january-2020-novel-coronavirus-china/en/

And what has the WHO recommended regarding novel coronavirus transmission since 2012?

What can I do to protect myself?

Exactly how people become infected with this virus is not known at this time. However, some general measures that would be prudent and help prevent the acquisition of any respiratory illness are to avoid close contact, when possible, with anyone who shows symptoms of illness (coughing and sneezing), and to maintain good hand hygiene.

    https://www.who.int/csr/disease/coronavirus_infections/faq_dec12/en/

In other words they recommend that the virus should be treated as if it were transmitted person to person.

But if you happen to get your information from an unreliable source, it’s understandable that you would tend to repeat their nonsense.

WHO haunted by January tweet saying China found no human transmission of coronavirus

    https://www.foxnews.com/world/world...ry-tweet-china-human-transmission-coronavirus

While the WHO did not recommend travel restrictions back in late January, they did recommend this:

The Committee believes that it is still possible to interrupt virus spread, provided that countries put in place strong measures to detect disease early, isolate and treat cases, trace contacts, and promote social distancing measures commensurate with the risk. It is important to note that as the situation continues to evolve, so will the strategic goals and measures to prevent and reduce spread of the infection. The Committee agreed that the outbreak now meets the criteria for a Public Health Emergency of International Concern and proposed the following advice to be issued as Temporary Recommendations.

    https://www.who.int/news-room/detai...the-outbreak-of-novel-coronavirus-(2019-ncov)

Was there a concerted effort by Bozo and company to detect and trace the virus by way of international travel other that associated with China? Apparently not.

You don’t think that other labs developing tests aren’t aware of the lack of precision associated with their tests? If you have many labs making tests, at least some of them will present adequate reliability, which is far better than a single one that doesn’t.

You post excerpts from an article titled, The Lost Month: How a Failure to Test Blinded the U.S. to Covid-19, and you offer it as an excuse for the Trump administration’s bungled attempt at testing?

How about this nugget from the same article.

But the emergency announcement created a new barrier for hospitals and laboratories that wanted to create their own tests to diagnose the coronavirus. Usually, they faced minimal federal regulation. But once Mr. Azar took action, they were subject to an F.D.A. process called an “emergency use authorization.”

Even though researchers around the country quickly began creating tests that could diagnose Covid-19, many said they were hindered by the F.D.A.’s approval process. The new tests sat unused at labs around the country.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/28/us/testing-coronavirus-pandemic.html

Unfortunately Trump is the leader of the federal government tasked with dealing with health threats and emergencies like the one we are currently experiencing, so who else am I supposed to blame when he fails at that task? President Pelosi?

Or the guy he bought the store from?

No bullets or band aids, apparently Trump hasn't mastered the art of stocking shelves. Someone might want to check our military arsenals as well.
