Why, that's nothing! I just found out that Eagles have Mites, and they often cause mange in those birds. And that's not all - mites also transmit Ricksettia, a Deadly Bacteria that can cause Typhoid Fever in people. Eagles flying over your family's heads dropping Deadly Plague Mites!

What does this have to do with this coronavirus outbreak?

Had this discussion been about the plague, then you might have somewhat of a point. But it is not.

Bat mites are not known to spread diseases. So you are not making sense at all.

Your weird comments about vaccines also made no sense.

Bat mites spread blood between bats and humans just like Plague is spread to humans by rat fleas.

Plague is just an infectious disease that has Flu like symptoms and in its pneumonic form displays shortness of breath, cough and chest pain may occur so it obviously has nothing to do with Coronavirus, unless it actually does.

How do you think the Hendra virus is spread between Fruit Bats, Horses and Humans?

This is silly. We know this disease is a respiratory virus, spread without any animal vector. This is clear from the way it has spread. Do you really suppose they have bats in the AC aboard cruise ships? Don’t be daft. Stop this irrelevant nonsense about bat mites.

    This one:

    You make absolutely no sense.

    Have linked already..

No evidence that bat mites transmit diseases.

This is a completely different disease, and was transmitted differently.

Unless you have actual evidence regarding bat mites in this instance, stop linking it to this current coronavirus outbreak.

Saliva, droppings, bites, scratches by the bats and direct contact with their blood or nasal secretions..

    Not bat mites.

According to the ABC, Iran has recorded it's first deaths from this virus.
With out any previous official indication of the illness present in Iran suddenly, over night, they have not one but two fatalities.
It is sad that the pride of the Iranian Government may mean that the situation in Iran could be considerably worse than published.
2 fatalities would suggest at least 100 or more are infected. ( reverse stats trend)

The issue now is that if the infection reaches into the displaced persons, refugee camps in Syria, Turkey and Lebanon etc. the statistics on this illness globally will change for the worse rather dramatically.

Further if the illness spread South into the struggling regions of Africa there isn't much the world will be able to do to help.

No news on North Korea? Any one?

    Notes:
The map appears to be incomplete/inaccurate.
Approx 70 days after onset in Wuhan.
The ability to report confirmed cases to the WHO appears to be a serious issue. Many nations may actually have cases that they can not confirm, possibly due to a lack of expertise, equipment, political will etc...

The science mags in my house are considering the possibility - with evidence - that this corona virus spread from bats to pangolins, and from pangolins to people.

That's apparently what best fits the genetic sequence data - and it wouldn't be the first.

    initially ?
I thought they were confident about live animals mixing it with butchered raw food in the market? Or are you saying more or less the same thing with out a location?

we know the situation is and has been pretty damn scary OK?
Take a few deep breaths and relax a little knowing that the world is slowly getting on top of this bug...

News from Singapore is positive. New infections are running only at about 3.7%
Japan is a little higher due to the Cruise ship distortions etc...
All in all the global trend including China gives room for optimism.

and hopefully China is learning from it's lesson in animal food production and selling...
Poultry, Pigs and other...are a big concern and have been for a long time...

All I did was post what Google said about the various topics.

I was originally trying to find what HN codes for the Coronavirus and the US Flu and I came across the links posted above.

What I do find unusual is that most references to the 'Australia A' flu and the various Flu's respective HN codes are now almost non existent, even on Google.

BTW, the John Hopkins University Covid-19 dashboard figures are currently: Total Confirmed: 76724, Total Deaths: 2,247, and Total Recovered: 18,547 and the ratio of Confirmed/Recovered is now 24.17%.

If there was some sort of international Flu comparison tables we might be able to rank Confirmed Infections and Mortality rates along with risks for locals and non locals.

I must say the continuing préoccupation with bats seems highly appropriate.

According to WHO report 21st Feb 2020 the increase in confirmed cases (globally) for yesterday is less than 1.5%.
Even when considering flawed data error factors this is a great result and an apparent trend. IMO.
Hot spots like Japan and Singapore suggest containment strategies are working..
South Korea, Hong Kong, may buck the trend...

    =====
    Suspicion:
It appears that this virus can have an extended incubation period beyond the original 14 days. There is evidence that this is a possibility with the recent new cases in Italy, Iran (Deaths now 4), Israel.
It is hard to say because many nations either are unconcerned enough to test or simply do not have the ability to test.
We could be seeing the start of a second and different wave of cases that may not be so easily contained.

    Well look at dat!
    Today's news ABC.

Efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus have been dealt a blow, with new data suggesting the incubation period could be much longer than presumed.
A 70-year-old man in China's Hubei Province was infected with coronavirus but did not show symptoms until 27 days later, the local government said on Saturday, meaning the virus' incubation period could be much longer than the presumed 14 days
