Since I have had 2 & 1/2 years of leuprolide chemo I knew I was at a much greater risk for Shingles, so I got the Zostivax (17% effective) shot a couple years ago. Then I got the Shingles 'belt' all the way around my belly for about 3 & 1/2 months. After a month or so layover, it returned as a partial belt patch for another 3 months or so, then it came back again this past March for another 3 & 1/2 months, only this time it was on the backs of both calves. It just cleared up the last half of June.

That is a lot of why I chose to get the Shingrix. I just got the first shot last week so I gotta warn you to hang on tight for a bit here. My deltoid muscle ached something fierce for 3 - 4 days, but that was not it for me.

This past Sunday, 3 days after I got the shot, I hit the wall. Body aches (muscles and joints), serious fatigue, nausea, the chills and a headache to write home to ma about. Cut the morning hike in half, laid down on the floor in my office with a sheet over me from 11 AM to 1:30 PM when I went downstairs and laid on the couch under a sheet with the chills until 5 PM. No lunch, no dinner, nothing to drink either - the mere thought made me fear I was gonna puke. Got up and went to bed, slept in until 4:15 Monday morning (usual get-up time). Still had some serious carry-over yesterday. I know I am in the minority on these side-effects, but they were significant.

Gratefully, my lovely little lady Labrador stuck right by my side through all of that crap. I will plan on some down time with the follow-up shot.....when they can get it for me.

Once woud be more than enfff… an that it kept comin back must have been unbelievable.!!!

After the second dose of Shingrix has time to do its thang… its very likely the nightmare of shingles you have experienced will be over.!!!
Thers even a good chance that you wont experience those nasty side effects you had after the first vaccination.!!!

Wit the shortage of it… my Doc said i woud have a beter chance of findin the vaccine at walmart or other pharmacies.!!!

You are no doubt on a priority list to get you’r follow-up vaccination… an of course you can get the second vaccination at a diferent place than you got the first one… so thers a good chance you will be able to get the follow-up shot well wit-in the 2 to 6 mounth suggested time frame.!!!

    Good luck to you.!!!

Thanks, I will certainly get the second shot in the time frame - one way or another!

Shingles is really uncomfortable, for sure. At least this will stack the odds a bit better in my favor.

    uummm... how many months ?
October, November December January February March April May June july
    crikey
9 months and there is still a shortage.

great they have developed the vaccine.
situations like this it would be nice to have universal health care that can fund the vacine instead of having to wait for insurance companys to try and stall patients and hope they die off in the mean time.
or the insurance company spend months developing co-pay policy to reduce the loss they define as medical care.
their loss is your medical care ...

I read that the huge demand for the vaccine was unexpected an "they" are playin catch-up to meet that demand... but whatever the reason/reasons are for the shortage... im guessin that you woud put poor peoples health above the profit of corporations who make the vaccine possible.!!!

Sure that makes a good sound bite... but the catch 22 is... wit-out huge profits the vaccines wont even get created.!!!

Truth is... we are lucky to have the vaccine even if we cant get it.!!!

Plus... a percentage of that corporate profit eventualy trickles down to poor people in one form or anuther.!!!

No need to rock the boat/try to fix a system thats workin for everbody.!!!

when fear is used to control your decision making by others...

throwing out the scraps and being the lucky little black boy who is fast enough to run close behind the aid truck picking up what falls off...

you increase the suffering of everyone so it is possible to normalise suffering
this allows you to impose suffering on the people who are then kept in line by the other people who are not suffering quite soo much, or have a carrot dangled on a stick in front of them while they are told they might be able to reduce their suffering.

these are Republican party ideologies used as tools to control society.

is the same ideology applied to the usa military ?
Do you say, just leave them be, dont try and make anything better... ?

you think you have an opinion, however, you are not sure how that opinion came to be your opinion.
thats ok, that quite normal, but do you allow others to dictate how and if you should challenge that opinion ?

what is stopping the Federal government from putting in a direct order of 50 orders directly from the factory ?
1 order for each state based on the population and age demographics.

the pharmco gets the money instantly and each state then gets sent the amount of vaccinations that have been purchased.

    this is purchased based on
    the sick
    the young
    the old
