    Hey Scifolk!

Yes I've been absent for a long time. An lot of life happened to me since my last post. All good too I swear!

Anyway, to the point of the thread:

I was trying to set up a dual boot on my windows pc for Debian Linux. All was running smoothly, and I had everything as I wanted it. But I couldn't get Debian to connect to my wireless chip. I decided to reinstall debain, so I went in to windows and re-merged the debian partition into my C: drive. When I restarted my computer, it just get a black screen that says "error: partition not found" then something about entering grub rescue. It has a command prompt and I googled how to fix things from this prompt, but it was so hosed that even those commands resulted in errors.

No biggy, I have all my data backed up and didn't have any important apps or programs installed on my windows side of things.

At any rate, I've even tried booting into a USB with windows recovery media and the linux recovery, and it wont even do that. I've tried pushing F2, which usually puts me into my BIOS but it wont even do that. Just goes straight to the grub error.

    So I've got two question:

Is it too far gone to just repair my windows install? I can see that it is still there because I removed the hard drive and have it hooked to my wifes computer with an SATA wire.

If this isnt possible, is it possible to fix it from my wifes computer, or reinstall windows with with the SATA wire?

Thanks to anyone who can help!

If you have the full windows install media on the "USB with windows recovery media"...
Wipe/reformat the HDD while "hooked to wifes computer with an SATA wire" (google "how to")...
re-install HDD into original "windows pc" and install with the "USB with windows install media"

NOTE !!! You must have the FULL Windows Install Media/.iso on the USB...NOT just the "Windows Recovery Media"!!!!

    Yes.
As long as your pc had a Licensed version of Windows, you will be able to download and re-install windows with that tool.
Follow the instructions by clicking on the "Using the tool to create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) to install Windows 10 on a different PC (click to show more or less information) " option at that Link, on your "wifes computer"(or any computer!).
Seems like you've got this all sussed out and know what you need to do, so you should have no problem getting your pc back up and running fairly quickly!

Hence the : re-install HDD into original "windows pc" and install with the "USB with windows install media".

    -
Format your Hard Disk Drive while it is still hooked to your wifes computer with an SATA wire...
    - After it is Formatted, remove the HDD from your wifes computer and re-install HDD into original "windows pc" ...as it was prior to removing it...
    - Then, Attach a USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space to your wifes computer.
    - Follow the instructions by clicking on the "Using the tool to create installation media (USB flash drive, DVD, or ISO file) to install Windows 10 on a different PC (click to show more or less information) " option at the Link :
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 , on your "wifes computer".
