There are too many candidates. Hopefully after the debates we'll be down to about six or so.

Did anyone watch the debates? If you did, what are your thoughts?

This, from the lead paragraph of the link:
"Nothing matters more to Democratic voters than picking a nominee with the best chance of beating President Donald Trump, who many party activists consider an existential threat to their values and priorities. But the question of which Democrat is most "electable" against Trump looks murkier and more contested than ever after last week's debates"
is Republican media framing. It favors Trump, and the down ticket Republicans. It's typical CNN rightwing bs.

For one thing, it's impossible to estimate at this stage. For another, it distracts from the the central issues that have made and broken Dems in actual elections for a generation now: competence, integrity, Democratic Party allegiances (hint: not Wall Street). For a third, the assertion is false - the question of which candidate is more electable is no murkier or more contested than it was before.

"Electability" is a waster of time. It is not a sound criterion, and it distracts from stuff that matters. Its main effect is to persuade Democratic candidates to chase Trump voters by appealing to what earlier bs polling has presented as their main concerns. That damages the Dems appearance - as well as reality - of competence and integrity, and abandons standard Democratic Party positions that are supported by solid majorities of American adults - potential voters. Meanwhile, the Trump voters are not persuadable, in any significant numbers. They aren't listening.

"So far, polling shows that Biden has benefited the most from the focus on electability."
    I rest my case.

Don't pay any attention to "electability". Don't pay much attention to sources that do.

    Dems don't matter anyway.

Drumpf, will win 2020 merely cause of campaign contributions alone.

He lost the popular vote last time out, solidly, and won on a margin of electoral fraud and vote suppression.

Money isn't magic - lots of better-funded politicians have lost major elections to poorly funded upstarts. The Trump voters are not increasing in number - Trump is of course fucking up, as fascists do, but in his case faster than the propaganda can keep up with - and there aren't enough of them to win outright. Last campaign's nonvoters are a rich pool of Democratic votes (they are more liberal, on average, than the voters), Trump will need every dime of that money to suppress their vote, and it may not be enough.

Corporations don't vote. America has become a nation where its corporations matter more than its people. That is why Americans do not live as long as people in Taiwan (average lifespans).

The richest of the rich won the superlotto with Trump. It seems American citizen are being dumbed down (worst ranked education in free world) to vote in favor of corporate profits.

Warren would get my vote if I was forced to live in America. If I moved to America my odds of getting murdered would instantly multiply by six (6) and I would die years younger (based on average lifespans)

I agree Trump may win because of corporate influence and its people are not really as necessary for corporations to flourish. Americans are dumbed down enough to vote for trump again.

Yes, and Trump will have his Abrams and Bradley tanks on display also. The only reason they won't be rolling down Pennsylvania Avenue, like they would in the vulgar parades of dictatorships, is because that would damage the infrastructure.

    Are we great again, yet?

I would like to see Harris win the nomination. That would make for a very interesting time.

Al Gore's loss in Florida may have been due to bad ballot design (butterfly). There was an unusually large vote for Buchanan in one county. The guess is people were trying to vote for Gore, but punched holes for Buchanan/

He lost to electoral fraud and voter suppression, backed by an openly politicized and apparently corrupted Supreme Court (no recusals, despite clear conflicts of interest and political involvement) - much like Clinton, only without as large a popular vote majority (so W needed less fraud and suppression than Trump, no Russian help, etc).

So did Kerry, probably, in losing the electoral vote as well as the popular vote - the rigging was so flagrant it attracted prosecution, even from Republican law enforcement: some people in Ohio were convicted, others threatened. But the election was not invalidated.
If prosecuted, he would be convicted - it's not legal, what he's doing.
More grounds for impeachment, if Congress grows a spine.
Not only bad design, but misprinting of one batch of ballots coupled with older and poorly maintained tally machines. The old machines and misprinted ballots were sent to heavily Democratic precincts. This was held to be coincidence, by the Florida Secretary of State - who was also working as co-chair of the Republican campaign in that State. (She already had a record of personal association with corrupt campaign practices, but the investigations into them had been ended shortly after Jeb Bush was elected governor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Katherine_Harris)
In addition, there were significant anomalies in the electronic voting machine tallies from other voting regions in Florida, possibly amounting to even larger effects than the famous bad ballots. These were ignored.
The final and most complete - but unofficial - recounts, months later, showed Gore winning the popular vote in Florida anyway - but the election had been certified by that Secretary of State, the Florida Supreme Court's overturning of that dubious certification had been overturned by the US Supreme Court on a 5-4 vote with no recusals, and no further investigation into what had happened was made under Jeb Bush's administration.

They should rename their party to the Socialist Party. That does seem to be their message.
