    People eat that stuff?

In 2016 the Nobel prize in medicine was awarded for autophagy. A topic most doctors are not yet aware of it seems.

This means grandma was wrong. Breakfast is not only not the most important meal of the day. It is the absolute worst meal of the day.
Everyone should fast at least 16 hours daily according to the science (autophagy).

I fast often. I dry fast, wet fast and do a 16:8 fast on other days (google it). Not too hard to eat all your meals and sugar drinks in an 8 hour window like 11am - 7pm.

Metformin, NAD+ from Niagen or Niacinimide, and Chromium supplements can also add many years to your life based upon research (rats and mice obviously.. but have shown results in humans). Research on your own. I'm adding a real "life hack" but am not explaining these.

I went three weeks with no food in April but I still took Metformin/Niagen/Chromium daily.

    thats fairly serious.
keto kick start the hard way
how much body weight did you lose ?
    were you drinking electrolytes ?

due to my lack of clinical knowledge of the related neurological and cell functional potential catastrophic damage, i have not got into non conformist metal supplements or fringe supplements.
i lean more toward a err of naturalness(standard known variable food types like meat & vegetables & fruit) for lack of clinical specialized knowledge.

i was doing some reading on something and i ran into it.
it appears to sugest that early stage depression may be being caused by asian diets.
if this helps explain the massive suicide rate in japan it will be very good.
the diet of high sugar western food types on top of over cooked soya and other hyperthyroid triggering foods may explain the massive amount of depression in advanced asian culture.

fermented soya products are normal weekly dietary things for many asian cultures.
add to that high sugar food types sudden disruption of insulin
triggering door-way depression that spirals triggering great dietary extremism

currently it appears there is a lack of research to try and find any clinical links between graves disease and early hyperthyroidism and the consequential depression.

it will be interesting to see what plays out and is discovered over the next few years

millet seed is a massive product for the gluten free community
it looks like it triggers hyperthyroidism

I haven't eaten breakfast since the 1960s and look how I turned out.
I actually spend most of my 17-19 waking hours eating.

Yes. I take electrolytes. Not drinking unless spring water. Regulated amounts.

If fasting I normally take at least minimal amounts of Pink Himalayan salt which also has some Magnesium usually. I do not take Magnesium or potassium (can be dangerous if unregulated) unless fasting for longer than 1 week. Salt daily.

    Also multivitamins but not always.

Eating more than 8 hours in a day has been proven to be un-healthy (research "autophagy"/ Noble Prize medicine 2016). Break-fast is actually the worst meal of the day. When not fasting I still consume sugar drinks and meals only between 11am and 7pm (I will break that rule on occasions such as Christmas or Thanksgiving.. or a neighbors BBQ).

Metformin/Chromium/NAD+ (from Niagen/Niacinimide (as precursors). This cost less than $1 per day if using Niagen or $ 0.30 cents a day if using Niacinimide.

They have all been shown to greatly increase the lifespan in mammals such as rats/mice, etc. Or you could wait 140 years and see if it works as well in humans. Perhaps this deserves a posting elsewhere on sciforums but it is an actual "Life hack".. in that it is a hack that adds lifespan/health.

I won't link research but google (Metformin/lifespan), (Chromium/lifespan),(NAD+/Lifespan) and aim more for the Harvard Medical studies.

Could you add 30-40 years to your life for 30 cents a day? Maybe. Maybe not. Even if you got hit buy a bus when 90, you may still at least have good health.

Calorie restriction is also a known factor. Instead of the claim by some that we have a limited number of heartbeats per life. I like to think we are allowed to consume a certain amount of calories in life.

Our cells are like fish that swim inside a swimming pool (lymph). They eat, sleep, play and POOP (acids) into that lymph. This is the cause of most ailments. Whether acne or cancer.

When you fast you are clearing that sewage system and getting your kidneys filtering the lymph at faster rates. This is more important than ketosis.

(it is also common sense health thinking).

Sugars are the worst. Our bodies do love Ketones. It is the first fuel our bodies will consume, Then Fructose, Glucose, etc.

If I was trying to lose weight I would dry fast. Two days no food or drinks, then 1 day of rehydration (I include salt), then another 2 days dry. This MELTS FAT. Okay. It does not literally MELT fat. It just makes our bodies seek Hydrogen from our FAT so it can create its own water.

NOTE: For any who think it affects musclke equally. NO. There are other factors involved (growth hormones, etc) and we only lose about 10% muscle and 90% fat.

So dry fasting is very quick to lose weight. It is also good for healing of rashes and any swelling that requires water, interior and exterior

I wet fast for creativity and meditation, etc. I do this less frequently or if pushing an alternating dry fast (re-hydration days) longer than 10 days.

Mono-fruit fasting is for those with serious ailments like cancer and whom must get some nutrition. A small amount of grapes ONCE daily can provide all the energy your body requires and lets the sewage (acids) clear out from our lymph.

Autophagy is new science. Most grandmothers will still say breakfast is healthy. It is absolutely NOT!

I do not wish to hijack this thread with continued fasting discussions, but it is a real "life hack" I suppose.

Google and challenge anything I have said, but I will not debate it here.

Can Chromium (10 cents a day), Niacinimide (10 cents a day), and Metformin (10 cents a day) help you stay younger looking and in better health? I take all three. (I use a product called Niagen ($1 per day) - Its like Niacimide that is better designed for NAD+ levels)

I fast more often than many. Its habit forming.

Edit on weight lost: My 5 day dry fast 2 days dry, 1 wet, 2 more dry.. loses about 15 pounds (after re-hydration. Not water weight). The 23 days fast I ended in April I lost 27 pounds but had done 8 days dry earlier on (alternating days). I weigh less than 200lbs but was pushing 300lbs years ago.

    Good luck.

coveting the nature of the illness
    banning thin models
    banning fat models
    ...

food is money, but it has become cheap easy money
a muscly/toned physique is the new gold that requires lots of work and effort.

i suspect that eating too frequently leads to drug & behavioural addiction
The constant generation of hormones and chemicals by the body to attain digestion while forcing against the nervous system and brains message of being full is probably very similar to heroine/opioid addiction.
usa having the highest rate of opioid addiction and the highest rate of obesity

    ...
i have been attempting to note skin function via dry fasting
it appears that sweating and fasting with a tiny amount of dry fasting seems to give best results.
what seems to be fairly apparent is the poor health of many whom do not drink fluids for several hours at a time then eat something that requires large amounts of fluid to digest and process.
i suspect this increases addiction in the person.

I googled the guys name, couldn't find the word "Nobel" and it looks like mainly criticism.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/What_the_Health
    :EDIT:
This is after I googled "autophagy" which may not even be a word, but somehow my search engine something other than just "enhanced" by Google.

    https://www.nobelprize.org/prizes/medicine/2016/summary/

    (that's from Nobel; Prize Website).

NOTE: Awarding the Nobel Prize in medicine is hardly criticism.. Unsure what you meant in above posting.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nobel_laureates_in_Physiology_or_Medicine

That's from wikipedia look at date 2016.

Here is New York Times on the topic (not fake news)

    https://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/04/science/yoshinori-ohsumi-nobel-prize-medicine.html

Here is a simple 2 minute explanation (not that good).

Here is a better video on it.

I am unsure what you are claiming above? Just because you are not aware of current science does not mean it does not exist.

Here is another PEER REVIEWED study links from Nature (a popular and respected scientific Journal).

    https://www.nature.com/subjects/autophagy

So ... Criticism? For what? By those who want to die sooner?

You claim "autophagy" might not even be a word... WOW!

Should I keep going... I literally see over 1000 links on the topic.
    ---------------------------------------
    At RainbowSingularity,

Dry fasting is without a doubt best for weight loss and the biggest danger is toxic shock and it might amplify an injury such as a car accident as your fluids would be low, etc. It does have warnings. Perhaps not a best beginner fast... but WOW.. does it burn fat.

My dry fast go to is
    a) 2 days not food or water (vitamins and salts only)
    b) 1 day rehydration. Tea and water only (again.. always electrolytes)
    c) 2 more days without food or water. This is while in ketosis and autophagy

That is 5 days. On paper the results of fat loss equal 13 days of water fasting for that 5 days. They suggest (rough guideline) that 1 day of dry fasting gives same autophagy and fat burning as 3 days of water fasting (google).

I have much experience at fasting.

The nutshell version is that your water is taken from cells (hydrogen) and destroys the fat cells in the process. 90% fat/10% muscle (Research if you wish).
    ------------------------------------------

There are literally hundreds if not thousands of videos on dry and wet fasting.

Here is a good one for explanation.

    LIFE HACK:

Some kick scooters fold up and fit easily into cars, unlike bicycles. Get out of the car, grab your kick scooter, and you are ready to move much more quickly than you would on foot. Of course bicycles are faster and safer, but I'd rather have a scooter than to have to put a bike rack on my car. But kick scooters require relatively smooth surfaces, and you have to be really careful.

Getting your car towed to the shop? The tow truck driver usually will not bring you back home afterward (at least around here, not even if you tip them in advance). Pull out the kick scooter and you will be home much faster than if you had to walk! (Been there, done that.)
