Why do people religiously avoid the acceptance of taboo ideas?

How strong is your resistance to taboo ideas? If you react, why is it necessarily with immediate denial?

Societies are basically subtle forms of mob rule. The mob stays in power by enforcing itself upon others, usually through social means. Are you agreeing with the mob because they've repeated something in your ear, or because you see their vision as natural?

Someone once told me I had to tolerate every one religion. I said I didn't believe that - if you can shop for a car, you can shop for a religion. And if you sense one of the options is an Edsel, you'll avoid it or even speak badly of it.

But in our current society, believing in something other than blanket "tolerance" is a crime:

Authorities have described Rudolph as being motivated by hate, born at least in part from growing up a part of the Christian Identity Movement, a right-wing group that touts anti-Semitic, anti-gay, anti-abortion, racist, and anti-government beliefs.

    http://www.cnn.com/2003/US/06/03/rudolph.investigation/index.html

Wasn't one of the reasons the Bill of Rights exists is so that one can have anti-Semitic, anti-gay, anti-abortion, racist and/or ANTI-GOVERNMENT beliefs?

    Well ... yeah ... but ....

Well, yeah. But ... there's nothing in the Bill of Rights that says you can blow shit up whenever you're unhappy with the status quo. That's a huge difference.

Aside from the harming other people crap, Rudolph is welcome to be as stupid a hater as he chooses to be.

    Tiassa,

What exactly are you saying here? Are you saying that I have to accept people as they are even if I don't like it? Do I have to show tolerance to a pedophile? Or a rapist? If I wanted to punch one in the mouth, would I be out of line?

I say hate whomever you want to hate, like whomever you want to, and kill the people that you don't like.

Blankets / Covering up is the ultimate racist and hypocrite act that serves the really rich and powerfull to prevent the mass from seeing what is really going on up there. They throw around a few crumbs here and there and leave the races fighting for it or let us proudly proclaim "freedom to choose" under an american flag blessed by God, for the few crumbs we get, but really they get to eat the big pie and can only laugh at so much stupidity...

Actually you can't punch a peadophile out thats being a vigilanty. Now if you were attacked or saw him attackin somebody then its the lesser of 2 evils.

Actually the Bill of Rights only applies to the goverment, and was originally only applied to the feds. So if im your boss at work I can say "stfu and stop saying racist stuff or ill fire you" because im no the goverment. The Bill of rights does not apply to the rest of society.

Rudolf isn't on trial for hating anyone, he is on trial for blowing people up.

If that's the way you want it, then ok, but don't be surprised when people try to kill you, and certainly don't try to run crying to the poliece

i dont know how you guys live in such a shitty country

here my rights to work, feel safe, live ect are protected by LAW from those who wish to discriminate baised on age, gender, preference, race, colour, religion, hight, family and anything else you can think of that DOESNT impact on my ability to DO the job

ie a guy couldnt get a job as a female striper

We tend to look at Australia and sigh a little breath of relief, and realize that things could be worse.

Seriously, though, why is it that every Australian guy I meet wants to have this huge dick measuring contest? A little too defensive about how great your nation is, methinks.

I really hate to break it to you but the same is true in America, Assguard.

Oh come on, admit it, Australia is just Arkansas with a beach.

Grand Australia, where the xenophobic inhabitance put Asian refugees in prison camps, and the common citizenry comes out in force on the internet to shout loudly about how much AU r0x0rz and how US is a cesspit of evil and depravity.

It's like an entire nation of guys wearing those big foam fingers that say #1!

Ok, now that the bitterness is out in the open maybe I'll go start an AU bashing thread

(one last point of interest: MS word recognizes "r0x0rz" as a valid word)

Some simply do not want to. The fact that there exist taboo ideas is what is important.

Well he told you wrong. Hell Counsler Coffe even has an active thread reguarding his outrage about not being able to talk negatively about homosexual issues in the work place

Labor laws may vary from state to state, but federaly you can't fire someone based on race religion or sex.

I realize that its fassionable to hate America in your nation, but please, don't just go believing any little peice of junk that someone tells you without looking it up.

there was a thread a while ago ASKING that question

has nothing to do with hating america (if any country was like that i would feel the same way)

i will look it up but the responce i got went along the lines of "employers can do what they like unless they SAY they are an equal opitunity employer or they are goverment owned, private business can do as they please"

i will see if i can find the thread latter

    shouldnt be too hard
