coyotes are hardly in invasive species in north america. Canis latrans in a native species. while they have had a population explosion and are pests they are not considered an evasive species

You know what my parents called it when, as a result of what they said or did, they put me and my wife in awkward position? They called it "karma" and told me to get used to it. They and we laughed about it most of the time, for I could relate to what they meant.

My wife and I had to draw the line when my folks (and hers) started airing their "moldy old blue blood" ideas about race and, to a greater extent, the social classes. I was taken very much aback to learn my parents had implicitly remarked upon the superiority of whites, not because I didn't know from whence my folks came, but because they were quite dutiful in not inculcating my siblings and me with their notions about race, and because I knew how hard they worked at doing that and at disabusing themselves of the biases they'd been taught. Perhaps upon entering their dotage, however, they just got over trying to maintain the battle.

My wife and I didn't much mind the rest of what our folks exposed our kids to, but we weren't willing to deal with someone as central to our kids' lives as their grandparents pusing that BS, be it explicitly or tacitly. We wanted our kids to be very proud of who they are and wherefrom they come and we wanted them to realize they were fortunate to be so, but the last thing we wanted to think, even vaguely, was that they were indeed better than anyone on account of those those blessings of fate. They could think/know they are better than others on account of their own achievements, but not by dint of merely their birth.

With heavy hearts about a week after we first learned of their remarks, we took the seemingly draconian step of telling them that were they to let slip that way again, we'd no longer let them interact with their grandkids. We loved our 'rents, but we weren't about to let them "poison" our kids, especially not when there were plenty of influence besides their mother and me sending similar cues that we utterly abhorred but from which we could not shield our kids.

Betray me once, shame on you. Betray me twice, shame on me. There is no thrice.
-- Xelor; I don't know who said that before me, but I've said it often and for a long time.
