Anyone familiar with how antennas work will understand my comments re staple is correct. If the chicken leg ties were metal, whether they were prone to arcing or not would depend on the details of actual geometry - number and size and orientation of turns, how far the ends were separated etc. Also, if plastic coated (twitch ties) or bare metal.
Which gets back to needing to amend my #14, which dealt with the general tendencies in the case prior to actual arcing. Once arcing has initiated, things then more or less reverse and what was a region of high E field and low current dramatically reverses. It's important to clearly distinguish the pre vs post arcing current/voltage/E-field conditions for e.g. a sizeable piece of aluminium foil in the microwave.

And btw, can you confirm my hunch the 'aluminium foil' lining in those microwaveable packages mentioned in #5 is in fact metalized plastic film? If actually 'microwaveable' as is, that would have to be the answer imo.

Shiny inside, paper outside, the sandwich doesn't get soggy. That's all I know and all I need to know.

Step-brat tried to hard boil an egg in the microwave. I told her to clean it up. She stomped off. I tossed the microwave.

I boiled four eggs on the stove. An hour later, I heard gunshots. That was three months ago. I'm still cleaning it up. Ceilings are hard to scrape.

That seems a bit drastic? Besides, I have heard of a tossed salad, but a tossed microwave!...Crunchy?

These posts about eggs are just begging for the old...
I burnt my feet cooking eggs the other day.
    How?
The cookbook said, stand in boiling water for 3 minutes.
