Watch their eyes. Not Pinocchio, but politicians.

Joke: What happens when you give a lawyer Viagra?

    They get taller.

If too many had that attitude society could fail, it's a good thing rest of us believe we can still better our selves.

One question that never really struck me until now, as I prepare to make a Titus Crow spoiler joke, is why cockroaches.

But that leads to another question: Why would anyone repeat the mistake of coming out of the sea? (With humans gone, the water is going to get a lot better.)

    More directly to the topic:

The Information Age, or perhaps the Data Age.

Toward that end, we are also in an interesting period history will likely record as Dark.

The thing about paper is that it can last for a long, long time. The thing about hard drives is that they will decay comparatively quickly. When we pushed toward a paperless society, we essentially condemned ourselves. Which raises an alternative: The Market Age. The thing about marketplaces is that it is not, traditionally or historically as such, their concern whether or not certain effects of their success are detrimental to their operating environment, i.e., society, until those effects return as a societal phenomenon harming the marketplace; short form: "Paperless" was a bad idea but made for an interesting business pitch, and it's just bad for business to worry about what might happen or not some thirty years down the line, and it will be society's duty to save not only itself, but, by priority and right, and again, as customary in historical tradition, the marketplace itself first and foremost.

Coming out on land gave us access to fire. That is the first, biggest step in transforming our world. Without fire, we would still be using elk antlers (or the undersea equivalent) to dig our homes.
    It was a good move.
