I have been getting back into Astro photography.
With modern dslr cameras and a suitable mount and scope or long focal lenght camera lens one can get pleasing results.
I post a couple which have not been properly processed in astronomy processing softeware..
Nikon camera 24 meg 8 inch f5 newtonian 30 second captures and taking 60 of them and stacking them it works out as a 30 minute exposure...and the program disgards photos that for whatever reason did not turn out.
And stuff I did with just the camera and a 50 to 200 mm lens I found exciting.

The first is the Horse Head and the Flame..nebula.
You probably can just make out what is seen as a horse head to the right...
The Flame Nebula is to the left.
The second shot is a wude field and if you look you will see the horse head and flame neb but much smaller.
To the top right I think you can see the running man nebula...unless I have cropped it which is what you see as a star in the sword in orions belt.

Thanks they will be better when I process them correctly.
But I am so happy with the new scope and camera.
And I am surprised how just capturing 30 frames does the job.
Next time I will be using auto guiding and go for longer individual captures which should reduce the noise which is the problem with the present shots.
Or buy a camera with a cooler fitted that helps reduce camera noise.

    Careful careful

You will be accused of never going to the moon next and in league with NASA trying to prove stars really do exist

One of my scopes would be great for papparatzie...
Shoulder mounted I can take it to 5600 mm f/l so few places would be private...
I used to look at ants with it but they were 150 feet away.
Close ups of the alien occupants of those craft MR mentions.

Not sure how to work out magnification via camera but could be 300 tp 500 times mag and if you applied the astro stacking technology to build up a photo still shots could be real clear.

Monster Galaxies Resort to Cannibalism to Keep Growing (Video)
    October 7, 2014
Huge galaxies have to eat their neighbors to keep growing, a new study reveals.

You must keep your galaxies far away from neighbors or
maybe they show the skill of using photoshop.
