The razor blades are attacked by water molecules and thus oxidizes losing its sharpness.

    This belongs in pseudo-science.

Hadn't heard about this pyramid power nonsense since the 1970's when it was all mixed with the Chariots of the Gods/ancient astronaut nonsense. Stupidity never dies, it just gets recycled by a new generation of the gullible.

I've read many peer-reviewed publications, disproving the existence of axion particles or dark matter, for example - but I've never read peer-reviewed publication, disproving this effect experimentally.

Therefore by scientific methodology this phenomena connot be considered disproven, until you submit/quote such publication for us.

Yes, pyramids will sharpen razors, if they are made of fine abrasive stone, and run across the razor's edge at an oblique angle.

    Pyramids Do Sharpen Razors

1n 1975 I was in prison and I kept a cardboard pyramid inside my personal locker with my injector blade razor inside. It did keep my razor sharp. The paperback book in circulation at the time on pyramid powers gave the instructions on building the pyramid and how to place the razor inside. Both the pyramid and razor had to be placed facing a given direction. The edge of a razor blade is composed of small, sharp crystals, which fall off during shaving. These crystals grow back when the razor is stored inside the pyramid. (Note: 2000-year-old earthen vessels of wheat grain have been found inside pyramids in fresh condition and ready to plant.)

    For how long?
    And compared to what?
    Controlled experiments?
    See also: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MythBusters_(2005_season)#Episode_32_.E2.80.93_.22Jet_Pack.22

    Bunk.

    Also bunk:
    Note the word "attempted".
The myth was started in the 1030s, based on faulty observation.

Man humans make crap scientists. To many personal opinions clouding judgement..... IN FACT.....Dr Serge V.King conducted this experiment in a controlled environment 173 times between 1978 and 1983.... to which the staggering result concludes: only 3 times did the razor blade NOT sharpen itself. Also the pyramid can be made of any substance and be any size... for example a cardboard pyramid with facings measuring 4 inches high still sharpened the razor blade AND you dont even need solid facings... the razor blade will sharpen even with just the foundations (ie a hollow pyramid). The study itself used pyramids made of cardboard, straws, metal, brick (brick failed) glass, pipes.... and other materials. In conclusion it would appear that just the shape of a pyramid promotes microwave activity which forces molecules to excite and travel to the tip of the blade thus sharpening it. I would also like to add the experiment concluded that the blade would sharpen more thoroughly when one of the facings was pointing true north.

Dont be too sceptical. Read the evidence

If the OP statement is correct, that would create an industry of making small pyramids for keeping medical scalpels sharp.
Why does that industry does not exist? Because it doesn't work.

    p.s.
Did you know that obsidian yields the sharpest edge, all the way down to individual atoms.

This is so absurd it is quite funny. The bit about "microwaves" causing molecules to "travel [how] to the tip of the blade [,] thus sharpening it [just like that!] is especially hilarious if you know any physical science.

Vintage woo. Keep em coming. How about something involving ancient aliens or lizard people?

How was this 7 year old thread (bumped from 9 years) even found?

Ok why dont you help me to help myself... what happens when you put a knife in the microwave?..... also please dont be patronizing in such an insulting way it makes you seem like a judgemental narrow dick. No offence... just instictive defence mode

Plus you are ignoring the evidence which makes you appear like you ignore what you personally dpnt believe. Thats scientific dictatorship and is unprofessional.

Obviously it would be in the worlds best interest not to make public such obsurd sounding investigations because it would suggest that past cultures may have been more advanced than we believe. But on a lighter note, the studies concluded that that maximum a blade was sharpened was 20%.... not enough to write home about when the criterea for opperation utensils would be 'razor' sharp. The fact that pyramids either conduct or create 'electrical currents' is a fact, obsurd as it may be and is interesting dinner conversation

Actually Im sorry for stirring I have since discovered that razorblades naturally sharpen themselves and the only solid science is that Pyramids promote dehydration and thus the razor rejuvinates quicker... although interesting to note that the amount a razor blade naturally sharpens in one month will happen in just 24hours when placed in a pyramid

The only way for razorblades to sharpen themselves would be if they're made of mimetic polyalloy.

    Mod Note

Putting metal in the microwave is generally not advisable. And not because it will turn knives into super sharp implements capable of slicing objects open or removing facial, armpit and leg hair with one swipe, but because they can spark, cause fires or even damage the microwave.

I'm just going to leave that one here. Just because.

Pyramid power refers to the folk belief that the ancient Egyptian pyramids and objects of similar shape can confer a variety of benefits. Among these assumed properties are the ability to preserve foods,[1] sharpen or maintain the sharpness of razor blades,[2] improve health,[3] function "as a thought-form incubator",[4] trigger sexual urges,[5] and cause other effects. Such unverified theories regarding pyramids are collectively known as pyramidology.

There is no scientific evidence that pyramid power exists.

    It is an urban myth.

And you are free to construct a pyramid and put your razorblades in there. We won't stop you. But you should be aware that it is an urban legend.
